Improve self-study and research capacity for students

On March 25, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) coordinated with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (CYU) to organize a seminar on "Improving self-study and research capacity for students".

Attending the seminar were Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association Nguyen Minh Triet, leaders of units under the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

Speaking at the meeting, Chief Nguyen Thi Kim Chi sent congratulations to the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Youth Month 2025, while emphasizing the extremely important role of the young generation of Vietnam in studying, protecting and building the country.

The Deputy Minister said that the Education sector and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union always coordinate closely from the central to local levels, sharing the common goal of training a generation of young Vietnamese people who are both "red" and "specialized". That close relationship is demonstrated when the Cooperation Program between the two sides has more and more content, implementation solutions and evaluation.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the Program of coordination between the Education sector and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union emphasizes 6 key and specific tasks. During the implementation process, the two sides always have close exchanges to implement more completely, effectively and with better quality.

“2025 is a year of many innovations, including a revolutionary change in institutions and political determination to make the country strong and prosperous. In that great but still difficult atmosphere, mission, and spirit, the role of pioneering, accompanying, and deciding the future of the country is the important role of our young generation,” Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi shared.

According to the Deputy Minister, in the new context, recently, the tasks of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union as well as the resolutions and conclusions of the Politburo assigned to the education sector to train human resources to meet the needs of national development have emphasized the role of self-study and self-research for students and this spirit needs to be more strongly aroused in the young generation. Therefore, the topic of today's discussion is both the task and responsibility of both sides.

On behalf of the Central Secretariat of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Central Secretary Nguyen Minh Triet thanked the Ministry of Education and Training for its affection for the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and expressed his wish for close ties and enhanced effective coordination between the two sides.

Highly appreciating the organization of the seminar on improving self-study and research capacity for students, Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet commented that this is an important task assigned by the Party and the State to both sides, so he hopes that after the seminar, there will be ideas and solutions to coordinate and implement tasks more effectively in the coming time.

At the seminar, representatives of units under the Ministry of Education and Training and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union presented, discussed, exchanged and gave opinions on issues related to improving self-study and research capacity for students.

Affirming that self-study and self-research are key factors for students to be proactive, creative and prepare knowledge for the future, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi said that self-study will help students become more confident, independent and self-reliant.

The Ministry of Education and Training awarded the "For the cause of education" medal to 11 cadres of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

In the coming time, the Deputy Minister hopes that there will be many movements associated with self-study, self-research, improving the models that are being implemented, building models suitable for the new context and new environment. "When the self-study movement is promoted, it will not only be implemented by those in schools but will spread to self-study to the whole society", the Deputy Minister emphasized.
