Investing to put Hanoi University of Science and Technology in Asia's top 100

The Prime Minister assigned Hanoi University of Science and Technology to strive to become a top 100 university in Asia, with a world reputation for science, technology and innovation.

The above task is stated in the Prime Minister's decision approving the project to develop Hanoi University of Science and Technology into the group of leading higher education institutions in Asia, issued this afternoon (March 25).

Accordingly, the project's goal is not only to develop Hanoi University of Science and Technology into a modern higher education institution, among the top universities in Asia in the field of engineering and technology, but also to play a leading role in the Vietnamese higher education system in fields serving the development of technology and strategic industries.

The specific goal by 2030 is to achieve 85% of lecturers with doctoral degrees, of which 30% have the title of professor or associate professor; at least 25% of total training programs taught in English; training at least 8,000 engineers, masters, and doctors in fields serving strategic technology and industrial development...

In addition, the project also sets a target that by 2030, each lecturer of Hanoi University of Science and Technology will have an average of 1.6 scientific publications/year in the Web of Science, SCOPUS...

By 2035, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will be the leading center of research and innovation in the country in science, engineering and technology, ranked 100-150 in Asia according to prestigious international rankings; by 2045, it will be in the top 100 schools in Asia in the field of engineering and technology.

To achieve the above goal, one of the solutions is to expand the space of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, towards building a second campus in Hung Yen province, upgrading facilities at the main headquarters in Hanoi.

In addition, the school invests in building an Innovation Center, improving research capacity, proposing investment attraction mechanisms, perfecting the university development model towards autonomy and modernity...

The project implementation budget is included in the annual budget estimates of ministries, branches, localities and other legal funding sources.

The Ministries of Education and Training, Science and Technology, Finance, Hanoi and Hung Yen People's Committees were assigned to coordinate and support Hanoi University of Science and Technology to implement this project.

According to QS rankings, Hanoi University of Science and Technology is ranked 1,201-1,400 in the world and 1,501+ by Times Higher Education. In Asia alone, the school's position on these two rankings is 388 and group 501-600, respectively.
