Ministry of Foreign Affairs awards Certificate of Acceptance to Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Ho Chi Minh City

Speaking at the ceremony, Director Doan Hoang Minh congratulated Ms. Shirley Marguerite Hopman Aluwihare on her continued appointment as Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Ho Chi Minh City, expressing his belief that she will make positive contributions to strengthening Vietnam-Sri Lanka relations in general and consular cooperation in particular.

The Director affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese authorities will always accompany and support the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka to successfully fulfill his duties.

Vietnam and Sri Lanka established diplomatic relations on July 21, 1970, opening an important period of bilateral cooperation. Over the past 50 years, the relationship between the two countries has continuously developed in many fields, from politics - diplomacy, economics - trade to culture, education and tourism. The two countries maintain a good friendship, regularly hold high-level visits between the leaders of the two countries and actively support each other at regional and international forums.

Expressing her gratitude to Director Doan Hoang Minh for taking the time to receive and present the Consular Acceptance Certificate, Ms. Shirley Marguerite Hopman Aluwihare emphasized the special significance of this event in the context of Vietnam-Sri Lanka celebrating the 55th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1970-2025).
