The sample exam provides the question format and exam structure to help students develop study plans that meet the exam requirements. Candidates can access the exam on computers at https://tk.cet.vnu.edu.vn/ or https://hsa.edu.vn/ starting September 1, 2024. In both the sample and official exams, the questions are not arranged from easy to difficult but are randomly shuffled according to a fixed matrix.
Candidates should take practice tests to familiarize themselves with the exam format, review and supplement their knowledge and skills, and practice managing their time during the exam.
Previously, the Hanoi National University Examination Center announced the structure of the 2025 HSA exam, consisting of 50 questions in mathematics and data processing, and 50 questions in literature and language. These are the two compulsory sections of the HSA exam. The third section allows candidates to choose either Science or English, with a time limit of 60 minutes. Candidates choose 3 out of 5 topics: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, and Geography; each topic has 17 questions (including 1 test question). The English section consists of 50 objective multiple-choice questions designed for admission to foreign language training programs.
According to the National University of Hanoi 's Examination Center, approximately 75% of the exam questions are multiple-choice questions with four options. A new feature in the 2025 competency assessment exam structure is the addition of cluster questions across all sections and topics. These cluster questions consist of a common question and individual questions designed to assess candidates' abilities from low to high levels. The cluster questions will utilize a wealth of data, evaluating students' thinking skills across different fields and across disciplines.
Specifically from 2025 onwards, in addition to the Science section, this year's aptitude test structure will include an English section so that candidates applying for language-related majors can choose it for admission purposes.
In the official exam, the score will be displayed on the computer after the candidate completes all sections of the test. Universities may use the results of the aptitude test based on the total score, or they may add requirements based on the chosen topics in the Science section or the English section.
