Hanoi: Three preschool teachers fired for child abuse

Reflecting to the press, parent Duong Thi Ngoc Quynh, mother of child D.MK, a student in the Moon Reggio class at Einstein Academy Kindergarten (address at building N02, New Horizon urban area, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi), sent a complaint to the authorities about her child being abused by a teacher.

According to Ms. Quynh, from March 10 to March 17, the child showed signs of panic when going to school, not wanting to go to school. At night, the child was often insecure, scared and cried when sleeping.

On March 19, Ms. Quynh went to the school to meet the administrator and was told that she did not know about the incident and that she would never allow students to be beaten. Immediately after that, Ms. Quynh filed a request for the school to extract the camera footage.

However, the school only provided camera footage from March 18 in classrooms and restrooms. Frustrated by the school’s lack of cooperation, on March 20, Ms. Quynh went to Mai Dong Ward Police to report. At that time, the school extracted all the camera footage but still firmly denied that the teacher beat the student.

After reviewing the video, Ms. Quynh was shocked to discover that not only her child but many other students were also beaten on the back, head, and hands by teachers during the process of caring for and educating them. According to her, the incident caused serious psychological trauma to her child, who was afraid to go to school and kept saying that the teacher beat him painfully.

Immediately after the incident was discovered, Einstein Academy Kindergarten admitted the teacher's wrongdoing and reported it to the authorities.

According to the report, on March 20, the school confirmed that the teachers had inappropriate behavior with students. To ensure objectivity, the school temporarily suspended the three teachers in charge of the Moon Reggio class, including Ms. LTO, Ms. TTL, and Ms. NTN, and at the same time, coordinated with the authorities to investigate and clarify the incident.

On March 21, after consideration, the school decided to dismiss the three teachers. According to the assessment, the teachers had acted to impact the cheeks, shoulders, legs, and arms of the students during the organization of the activity, although leaving no traces, it was still a serious violation of professional ethics.

Currently, these three teachers are continuing to work with the police to assist in the investigation.

On the school side, the Board of Directors expressed their desire to meet and apologize to the families of the affected students. At the same time, the school organized a meeting with the parents of the Moon Reggio class to clarify the incident and committed to tightening management to ensure student safety.
