Journey to preserve and promote heritage values
On November 27, 2014, Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs were officially recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
This is an important milestone, opening up new opportunities in preserving and promoting this unique cultural value, while enhancing the vision of the domestic and international community about a rich heritage of Nghe Tinh land.
Mr. Bui Dinh Long, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: Over the past 10 years, the government and people of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces have made joint efforts to spread the Vi and Giam folk song heritage. Many mechanisms and policies have been issued and implemented to create a solid foundation for protecting and promoting the value of the heritage, contributing to affirming the position and strong vitality of Vi and Giam folk songs in the community.
According to Mr. Long, in the coming time, the province will continue to promote the action program to preserve and promote the value of Vi and Giam folk songs. Specifically, artisans and communities will be supported to preserve and teach the heritage, and at the same time invest in building Vi and Giam folk songs into a unique tourism product, associated with the cultural and tourism brand of Nghe Tinh.
Spreading the value of folk songs in society
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong suggested that Nghe An province promote propaganda and education activities to raise awareness of the whole society, especially the young generation, about the importance of heritage protection.
He also emphasized increasing investment in resources and effectively implementing conservation policies, thereby ensuring that Vi and Giam folk songs continue to be an indispensable part of Vietnamese cultural life.
Within the framework of the celebration, a special art program called "Vi, Giam, the shining soul of the countryside" brought the audience a space imbued with Nghe An culture.
With sophisticated performances, the program not only recreates the richness of the folk cultural heritage of Vi and Giam but also crystallizes the soul, intelligence and character of Nghe Tinh people.
This art program cleverly used Vi and Giam folk songs as the foundation and material to create modern cultural values, contributing to highlighting the position of heritage in contemporary cultural and artistic life.
The 10th anniversary of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs being recognized by UNESCO is not only an opportunity to look back on the journey of preserving and promoting heritage values, but also opens up strategic directions for this cultural heritage to continue to spread and survive in the future.
