(CLO) To celebrate World Radio Day this year, on February 13, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) will produce a special radio program with the theme “Radio and Climate Change”. This is also the theme chosen by UNESCO for this year’s World Radio Day.
At the seminar, guests and experts all affirmed the indispensable role of radio everywhere, at all times. When there is no Internet, radio is still a companion, a bridge to help speak out a common voice, especially for those who are vulnerable, those in urgent circumstances such as those affected by natural disasters...

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Pham Manh Hung, Deputy General Director of Voice of Vietnam, said that traditional press is facing great challenges and no press media has absolute control over the public, each type of press must innovate and find new approaches to the public. Radio is no exception, but radio still maintains its role, accessing information quickly, connecting and inspiring people to act. Currently, radio is not only implemented on traditional platforms and quickly adapts to the digital transformation model to access information quickly and comprehensively for the public. Radio still has many opportunities to develop with new approaches.
Mr. Pham Manh Hung emphasized this role because international cooperation helps the public understand more clearly and fully what is happening in the world, what we are facing. VOV, together with radio broadcasters around the world, constantly cooperates and shares to make radio increasingly develop, contributing to the building of a better society.
At the seminar, many delegates said that choosing climate change as the main theme of this year's World Radio Day stems from the fact that the world is increasingly in need of fast, timely, comprehensive and reliable coverage of extreme weather phenomena that are appearing more and more frequently in the world.
Therefore, with the nature of a form of media that has the ability to reach audiences quickly, widely and simply, radio plays an important role in equipping communities with the most practical information, helping them to better respond to climate change...
