Three weeks after Vietnam and Denmark established the Green Strategic Partnership, a Danish Sustainable Agriculture and Food delegation visited Ho Chi Minh City.
Leading the delegation were representatives from the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, the Danish Agriculture and Food Council, and nine companies specializing in livestock and aquaculture, agricultural and food production and processing, and temperature-controlled storage solutions.
"Green transformation in agriculture and food production has always been a key cooperation topic between Denmark and Vietnam, in the current Strategic Sector Cooperation program as well as the recently established Green Strategic Partnership between the two countries," said Ms. Mette Ekeroth, Deputy Ambassador of Denmark in Hanoi. Therefore, the working trip of the Danish delegation is expected to create an environment for meetings, sharing knowledge and experience as well as promoting cooperation, contributing to laying the foundation for the future of the bilateral agriculture and food sectors.
On November 22, the Danish Embassy also coordinated with the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration and the Danish Agriculture and Food Council to organize a workshop on "Agriculture for the Future: Denmark-Vietnam Dialogue on Green and Resource-Saving Agricultural and Food Production".
The workshop provided an opportunity for Danish and Vietnamese agricultural and food companies to identify potential areas of cooperation, laying the foundation for mutually beneficial cooperation in the future. The workshop also focused on discussing green solutions that not only improve efficiency but also enhance sustainability, as well as new and innovative methods and technologies in agricultural and food production.
The need to use resources efficiently is becoming more urgent in the context of increasingly complex global food supply chains. The focus of the agricultural industry today is to optimize productivity while protecting soil integrity.
Over the years, the Danish agriculture and food industry has continuously invested in new equipment and solutions to increase productivity, improve product quality while consuming less water and energy.
Denmark now produces three times more food than its entire population consumes, while its carbon emissions are among the lowest in Europe. Denmark’s rich history and experience are therefore welcomed by Vietnamese partners and businesses aiming for sustainable agricultural production.
