* Russia needs to be briefed by the United States on the results of talks with Ukraine in Saudi Arabia before commenting on whether the ceasefire proposal is acceptable to Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 12.

Mr. Peskov also did not rule out the possibility that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump would have a phone call and that this call could be organized very quickly if necessary.

* The international community welcomed the joint US-Ukraine meeting in Saudi Arabia on March 11, according to which Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni "fully supports Washington's efforts to achieve a just peace that ensures lasting security for Ukraine".

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz wrote on X: “The idea of ​​a 30-day ceasefire is an important and correct step towards a just peace for Ukraine.”

Meanwhile, the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy said that the ceasefire proposal, if accepted by Russia, could be an important step towards achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the principles of the United Nations (UN) Charter.
