General Phan Van Giang works with Son La province

On the morning of October 22, in Son La province, General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense, worked with the Standing Committee of the Son La Provincial Party Committee.

Attending the meeting were Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province Hoang Quoc Khanh; leaders of the General Staff, General Department of Politics, delegates of the Standing Committee of the Son La Provincial Party Committee; and functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense.

At the Conference, the Son La Provincial Party Committee reported to the Minister of National Defense and the working delegation on the results of implementing the tasks of socio-economic development; strengthening national defense and security; Party building and consolidating the political system of the province in recent times.

During the working session, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province Hoang Quoc Khanh and delegates exchanged and discussed to clarify the results, limitations, and difficulties of the locality and had recommendations and proposals of Son La province to the Minister of National Defense.

Concluding the Conference, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, highly appreciated the Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Son La province for overcoming difficulties, striving, and achieving many important achievements.

Analyzing the advantages and difficulties that the country is facing with the task of building and protecting the Fatherland; to successfully complete the socio-economic development targets associated with strengthening national defense and security in the area; the Minister of National Defense requested the Son La Provincial Party Committee to pay attention to leading and directing the good implementation of a number of key contents.

Pay special attention to the work of building and rectifying the Party and a clean and strong political system; maintain the leadership principle, build high solidarity and unity within the Party, maintain the people's trust in the Party and the Government; promote the achieved results; focus on remote and isolated areas, areas important to national defense, and newly arranged and adjusted areas in the province.

Continue to effectively implement Resolution No. 11-NQ/TW dated February 10, 2022 of the Politburo on socio-economic development orientations, ensuring national defense and security in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region to 2030, with a vision to 2045. Focus on implementing the planning of Son La province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. Effectively implement national target programs, especially the socio-economic development program for ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement resolutions and conclusions on military and defense strategies. Improve the quality of education and training in defense and security knowledge for all subjects. Perform well the state management of defense at all levels. Pay attention to strengthening the national defense potential associated with a solid people's security posture. Take care to build a comprehensively strong provincial armed force, highly combat-ready, capable of promptly and effectively responding to situations, avoiding being passive and surprised.

Pay attention to consolidating, building and improving the quality of activities of military party cells in communes, wards and towns. Closely combine socio-economic development with strengthening national defense and security, creating a stable and favorable environment for local socio-economic development. Regularly stay close to the base, grasp the situation, promptly and effectively handle all activities of hostile forces.

Proactively cooperate and link regions; better carry out foreign affairs, especially with Laos, build a peaceful, stable, cooperative and sustainably developed border area; do not let hostile forces take advantage of and incite divisions in Vietnam-Laos relations.

Direct the Military, Border Guard, and Police forces to coordinate well in implementing Decree No. 03 of the Government, promptly handle complicated issues of security, order, fight against crime, especially drug crimes, human trafficking, and maintain stability in the area.

Also at the Conference, the Minister of National Defense answered the proposals and recommendations of the Son La Provincial Party Committee related to military and defense work on mechanisms and policies; construction investment; and investment in equipment for the provincial armed forces.
