(kontumtv.vn) – On the morning of March 14, speaking at a working session with the Department of Industry and Trade on the planning and development of power sources, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Tuy emphasized that the electricity industry is one of the strategic and breakthrough economic sectors, accounting for an important proportion of the province's budget revenue. Therefore, units and localities need to quickly remove obstacles, shorten procedures, improve the investment environment, and create conditions for businesses to implement projects on schedule. Attending the working session was Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Thap.

There are currently 82 small and medium hydropower projects in the province; 57 projects have been granted investment policy decisions, the remaining 21 projects have not yet approved investment policies; 02 projects have been added to the Power Development Plan by the Prime Minister and 02 solar power plant projects have been added to the development plan by competent authorities. Up to now, 12 renewable energy projects have been given opinions on investment policies by the Provincial Party Committee. Kon Tum province has favorable conditions for developing power sources, especially renewable energy sources such as hydropower, wind power, solar power with a total capacity of about 28,644 MW. However, according to the Power Plan VIII, the Plan for implementing the Power Plan VIII approved by the Prime Minister, the capacity of renewable energy sources allocated in the province is still low; the power transmission system is not yet guaranteed to transmit the capacity of renewable energy projects to the national grid; The investment in the transmission and distribution grid system of the electricity sector is behind schedule. In addition, the implementation of some hydropower projects has encountered difficulties in compensation and site clearance; the time for appraisal and approval of adjustments to scale and capacity by competent authorities has been prolonged, so the project implementation is behind schedule. Some projects have not been approved to be added to the Power Plan VIII and the Power Plan VIII implementation plan, so there is no basis for continuing to implement the investment.

Emphasizing the importance of the electricity industry, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Tuy requested the Department of Industry and Trade and related units and localities to survey and re-evaluate the potential and advantages to orient the plan and planning for power source development; plan and connect projects to the power transmission grid system; advise and organize work with relevant central ministries and branches to quickly remove difficulties for the list of Power Plan VIII in the province; study and propose to the relevant levels and branches to quickly resolve procedural problems, shorten the adjustment time, and compensation work to improve the investment environment. On the other hand, review slow-progressing projects to recover and handle them according to regulations; study and develop plans to organize investment promotion programs to attract businesses to survey, invest, and develop the electricity industry in the province. Regarding the Dak Mi 1 Hydropower project, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee requested the People's Committee of Dak Glei district to coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade to send a document to the central ministries and branches for specific handling instructions, issue a conclusion to completely resolve the matter to continue construction, ensuring the project goes into operation on schedule./.
