Yen Bai - Tonight - February 26, at Na Hau commune stadium, Van Yen district People's Committee held a ceremony to announce the Decision and award the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Certificate "Forest Worship Ceremony of Mong people in Na Hau commune, Van Yen district" and Forest New Year 2025.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Tran Huy Tuan - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Ta Van Long - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Tuan Anh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nong Quoc Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of departments, branches, sectors, and mass organizations; leaders of districts, towns, and cities in the province, leaders of Van Yen district, along with a large number of people and tourists.

Na Hau is a highland commune of Van Yen district, located in the core area of ​​Na Hau Nature Reserve. This place is home to 99% of Mong people with a long-standing custom of worshipping the forest, which is always maintained and organized annually on the last days of January.

With the efforts in preserving, maintaining and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of the nation by the Party Committees and authorities at all levels from the province to the grassroots; with the respect and love for the heritage of the Mong people in Na Hau commune, Van Yen district - the Forest Worshiping Ceremony is the 10th Intangible Cultural Heritage out of 11 intangible cultural heritages in Yen Bai province, honored to be included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

This is an important event, an opportunity to propagate, promote and widely introduce the content and cultural values ​​of the Forest Worship Ceremony; raise awareness of preserving and promoting cultural values ​​in the area associated with tourism development, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.


Mr. Nong Quoc Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism awarded the certificate to the representative of the heritage community.

At the ceremony, the leaders of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of the province announced Decision No. 3980/QD-BVHTTDL dated December 10, 2024 of the Minister of Culture - Sports and Tourism deciding to include in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage "Social customs and beliefs of the Forest Worship Ceremony of the Mong people in Na Hau commune, Van Yen district, Yen Bai province".


Chairman of Van Yen District People's Committee Hoang Viet Hoa made a commitment speech at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Van Yen District People's Committee Hoang Viet Hoa emphasized: Receiving the Decision to certify the National Intangible Cultural Heritage for the Forest Worshiping Ceremony of the Mong people in Na Hau commune is not only a great honor for the Mong community here but also a great responsibility for the Party Committee, government and people of Van Yen district in preserving and promoting the value of this precious heritage.

To promote the heritage value, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Yen district committed to preserving intact the traditional values ​​of the Forest Worship Ceremony, strengthening research, collection and documentation programs on the Forest Worship Ceremony, ensuring the full preservation of the rituals, prayers, offerings and sacred space of the ceremony; supporting artisans, village elders and village chiefs in teaching the cultural values, language and customs associated with the ceremony to the younger generation.

Along with that, bring the Forest Worship Ceremony into community life and educate the young generation; integrate heritage conservation with the development of ecotourism and community tourism; protect and develop forests associated with the tradition of forest worship; promote propaganda about the importance of forests in community life, encourage people to strictly implement the convention of forest protection associated with the Forest Worship Ceremony custom; strengthen forest management and protection, strictly handle acts of forest encroachment, illegal exploitation and impact on the local ecological environment...


Hundreds of artists, professional and amateur actors participated in the art program.

At the ceremony, delegates, people and tourists were immersed in a colorful cultural art program with the theme "Van Yen - Echoes of the Forest Tet, brightening up Na Hau" with the participation of many famous singers and more than 350 extras, artisans of Na Hau commune, Chu Van An High School, and Van Yen District Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities.

The program consists of 3 chapters: Chapter 1 has the theme "The legend of Tet in Na Hau forest"; Chapter 2 - "Loving green forest - Heritage road"; Chapter 3 - "Tet in forest - Brightening Na Hau". The program has many unique new features, elaborately staged, recreating the vibrant cultural space of the Mong ethnic group in Na Hau commune. Interspersed with artistic performances imbued with the cultural values ​​of the Mong people are singing and dancing performances expressing the belief of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Van Yen district in the Party, in Uncle Ho, and in the future development ahead.

Closing the art program was a performance of Xenh tien dance and Khen dance with the participation of hundreds of mass actors, artisans of Na Hau commune, Chu Van An High School, Van Yen District Ethnic Boarding Secondary School and a fireworks display with the theme "Brilliant fireworks - In the middle of Na Hau forest", leaving a good impression in the hearts of locals and tourists from near and far.

Immediately after the Ceremony of announcing the Decision and awarding the certificate of National Intangible Cultural Heritage "Forest Worship Ceremony of Mong people in Na Hau commune, Van Yen district" and the 2025 Forest New Year, at Na Hau commune stadium, the Great Forest Festival took place with the theme "Getting drunk together in the great forest". Here, people and tourists will enjoy the unique art performances of the Mong people on the floating stage, and enjoy local cuisine.

The ceremony to announce the Decision and award the certificate of National Intangible Cultural Heritage "Forest Worshiping Ceremony of Mong people in Na Hau commune, Van Yen district" and Forest New Year 2025 took place on February 26 and 27, 2025.

Tomorrow morning - February 27, at 3 traditional forest worshiping points in Trung Tam village, Ban Tat village, Ba Khuy village, Na Hau commune, there will be a Forest Worshiping ceremony and activities to celebrate the Forest New Year with Mong ethnic people.

On this occasion, Van Yen district also organized many activities such as: "Run to explore the great forest"; competition and performance of folk games, cultural and artistic performances of the Mong people such as: spinning top, pushing sticks, tug of war, crossbow shooting, bouncing pao, playing chicken badminton, blindfolded gong playing, lip trumpet, leaf trumpet, panpipe dancing, Senh tien dance, antiphonal singing... promising to bring visitors a unique and unforgettable experience.
