Painter Huynh Phuong Dong (1925-2015) is often assumed to be associated with resistance and propaganda, but when coming to the exhibition series Huynh Phuong Dong's Journey, you will see that it is not only that.
Audiences will see a diverse and multifaceted Huynh Phuong Dong, from wartime landscape sketches to peacetime landscape sketches - building the country, from people in war, through war and returning to daily life, from trips across Vietnam to trips to many countries in the world, from formal portraits to nude paintings...

When peace was restored, he traveled to paint many countries, from the Soviet Union (Russia), Cuba, China, Laos, Cambodia... to Canada, France, Italy... He even went to remote places where there were no roads. Here, in addition to the works, viewers can also see other memorabilia and letters.

At a special location (to be announced later) there will be portraits of wartime guerrillas, portraits of soldiers and officers, generals, and major battles such as Binh Gia, La Nga...
Another highlight of the exhibition series is at the City Exhibition Hall, where SANN - The House of Art will bring emotional, noble and humane wartime stories. The characters in the paintings go from wartime to peacetime, their peaceful moments, their everyday moments... further enhancing the value of sacrifice and peace.
In this exhibition series, viewers will have the opportunity to enjoy portraits of 8 generals and many famous artists and intellectuals; see a special work depicting Dong Nai from above, like the way we use flycam cameras to observe the landscape today...
In addition, the organizers also displayed documents, postcards, souvenirs, artifacts, propaganda paintings, stamps, etc. to better understand the living context and feelings of Huynh Phuong Dong.
Painter Huynh Phuong Dong's birth name is Huynh Cong Nhan, born on April 22, 1925 in Binh Hoa-Gia Dinh, originally from Ke An-Ke Sach, Soc Trang province. He was a painter-soldier who participated in both the resistance wars against the French and the Americans.
Huynh Phuong Dong is not only the name of the son of painter Huynh Cong Nhan, but also his alias since 1963, when he crossed Truong Son to the battlefield in the Southeast, working at the Liberation Painting Department (B11). After the country's reunification on April 30, 1975, until 2015, he still used this alias as his official pen name for his artistic activities.
