Guarding every inch of sacred land of the Fatherland

At the Quang Tri - Savannakhet - Salavan border, border guards silently guard every inch of the Fatherland, preserving the strong friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Under the harsh sunlight of Central Vietnam, where green fields interspersed with mountains create a majestic natural picture, there is a land located at the intersection of 3 provinces: Quang Tri (Vietnam), Savannakhet and Salavan (Laos) marking the friendship between the two brotherly countries of Vietnam and Laos.

Marking glorious history pages

I sat on a high hill, looking towards the horizon, where the borders of the three provinces of Quang Tri, Savannakhet and Salavan intersect. Here, the border is not just a line on the map, but a long story, full of history and humanity in the work of maintaining peace and border security.

The three provinces of the two countries are adjacent to each other with a 206 km long border. The majestic mountain ranges and rushing rivers mark the glorious history of many generations of ancestors who sacrificed for independence and freedom in the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism. The blood of many people has soaked into the soil, so that today we can stand here in peace, looking at the clear blue sky, and listening to the wind from the endless primeval forests.

This border is a place where culture, people and friendship intersect. Small villages are scattered along the border, Vietnamese and Lao people live in harmony and friendliness like brothers. Sharing roads and rivers together, they also join hands to protect the peace of the fence area.

During the peaceful years, the border guards silently guarded every inch of the Fatherland. They were like eagles, their eyes always keenly following every small movement of the border. Peace did not come by chance, but was the result of silent sacrifice and dedication.

On cold winter days, when thick fog covers every road, the border guards still quietly patrol, maintaining security for both countries. They face many difficulties, from harsh climate, rugged terrain, to risks from smuggling, drug trafficking, trafficking of women and children, and illegal border crossings... But in their hearts, there is always a burning faith and responsibility for their homeland and country. They are not only border guards, but also a bridge between the two peoples, preserving the lasting friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Share the sweet and the bitter

The Quang Tri - Savannakhet - Salavan border area is surrounded by high mountains, old forests and fast-flowing rivers.

During the rainy season, floods from the mountains pour down, turning streams into raging torrents. Trees are blown down by the wind, and the tiny roads along the border become more dangerous than ever. But in these difficult conditions, nature also brings wild, charming beauty. The scene of mountains covered in mist, or deep green forests under the afternoon sun always creates magical pictures.

The nature here contains many valuable resources. The primeval forests are home to many rare species of flora and fauna. However, illegal logging and hunting of rare animals are still a pressing issue that the border guards and rangers have to face. Persevering in protecting border security, the border guards also join hands to protect the environment and preserve natural resources for future generations.

And a very special thing is that this border deeply engraves the friendship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos. Since the fierce war years, the two peoples have stood shoulder to shoulder, fought together and built a bright future. Today, that sentiment continues to be nurtured and developed through cooperation activities, cultural and economic exchanges.

People of both countries, whether Vietnamese or Lao, share the same spirit of patriotism, love of peace and respect for traditional values. They live closely, in solidarity, sharing each bowl of rice, each joy and each sorrow. In the markets along the border, you will see people of both countries exchanging goods, with bright smiles on their faces. Lao children run and jump happily next to their Vietnamese friends, without any distinction of nationality or language. All are like brothers and sisters, creating a colorful picture of humanity and cross-border solidarity.

As the sunset fell, I looked into the distance, where the mountains gradually disappeared behind the mist. What remained in my heart was the silent sacrifice of the border guards, the strong friendship between Vietnam and Laos. All for the peaceful border, where each person is attached to their homeland and determined to protect every inch of the sacred land of the Fatherland.

And I know that, no matter how many difficulties and hardships, this border will always be protected, always a symbol of friendship and lasting solidarity between the two brotherly peoples of Vietnam and Laos.

The border area between Quang Tri and Savannakhet is a symbol of cooperation, solidarity and friendship. The border guards and the local community have been, are and will continue to work tirelessly to protect the peace of both countries. In the future, with the development of the economy and the connection of the two peoples, this border area will not only be a remote and isolated land, but also full of potential.
