Chinese frigates conduct multi-regional exercises in the East Sea

After entering the training area, the formation responded to a simulated missile attack with decoys, smoke screens and evasive maneuvers. The ships then cleared simulated floating mines before engaging the “enemy ship” with coordinated fire.

The exercise also included helicopter operations, sea resupply and formation maneuvers, contributing to improving readiness in missions.

Last week, China Central Television ( CCTV ) reported that a fleet of warships from the Northern Theater Command's navy held drills in the Yellow Sea.

The operation underscores China's focus on boosting its maritime capabilities amid rising regional tensions and its push to conquer distant seas.

The exercise involved the Type 054B frigate Thap Ha, which marked its first public appearance since entering service in January, quickly transitioning from commissioning to operational status.
