The workshop was organized by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in coordination with the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province and the United States Agency for International Development in Vietnam (USAID). Attending the workshop was Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Thai Binh.
The workshop aims to support provincial and municipal authorities in promoting regional connectivity, exchanging initiatives and successful models of green transformation to create a business environment oriented towards sustainable development.
Speaking at the workshop, VCCI Vice President Vo Tan Thanh said that improving the business investment environment is not only an important factor in attracting investment and promoting economic growth for the region, but also the foundation for building a sustainable and prosperous economy.
A favorable business investment environment will create conditions for businesses to develop, innovate and compete fairly. This not only benefits businesses but also contributes to improving the quality of life of people, creating more job opportunities and promoting community development.
In Quang Nam, in 2021, the province issued a Green Tourism Development Plan until 2025 and many policies and strategies on planning, infrastructure investment, promotion, and building green tourism products.
In particular, Quang Nam is the first locality in the country to issue a set of green tourism criteria as a guideline for the Quang Nam tourism industry to move towards a green and sustainable development model.
Speaking at the workshop, Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Phan Thai Binh said that in order to improve the green investment and business environment, the province's investment attraction and calling activities in recent years have had strong adjustments in policies and orientations according to Resolution No. 50 dated August 20, 2019 of the Politburo.
Quang Nam builds a selective investment attraction strategy, saying “no” to large-emission production types and projects that pose a risk of environmental pollution. Strictly implement the appraisal and assessment of environmental impacts for investment projects; all projects must ensure that environmental legal procedures are in accordance with regulations before being granted an operating license.
These are considered positive and drastic moves in the province's environmental protection work. This is recorded in the 2023 Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) and Provincial Green Index (PGI) Annual Report published by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry, Quang Nam is in the top 20 provinces and cities with the highest PGI Provincial Green Index.
According to the Quang Nam Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, the province's key viewpoint is still the synchronous development between economic sectors in the province, including transforming the growth model, "greening" economic sectors, applying the circular economic model associated with environmental protection. This is a strategic orientation for the province to move towards a green, clean, and environmentally friendly industry.
On this occasion, delegates attending the workshop also gave many opinions on discussing the provincial green index and improving the quality of environmental governance towards sustainable development; good practices in promoting an environmentally friendly business environment and suggestions for the Central coastal region...
