Providing information on the situation of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, the structure, functions and tasks of the State management agency on ethnic affairs, Minister and Chairman Hau A Lenh affirmed that Vietnam has achieved many achievements in socio-economic development of ethnic minority areas. However, ethnic minority areas in Vietnam still face many difficulties. Vietnam has been focusing resources with many policies to support the development of ethnic minority areas, especially Vietnam is implementing the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2030, aiming to solve the most difficult and urgent problems for ethnic minorities, ethnic minority and mountainous areas such as: transport infrastructure, health care, education, human resource development, livelihood support, employment, etc.
Minister and Chairman Hau A Lenh expressed that recently, he visited some regions of China and was impressed by China's development with many good experiences and valuable lessons that Vietnam wishes to learn from.
Minister and Chairman Hau A Lenh affirmed that the characteristics and situation of ethnic minority areas and ethnic work of Vietnam and China have many similarities. The Vietnam Nationalities Committee and the State Ethnic Committee of China signed a Cooperation Agreement in 1995, and re-signed it in December 2023. In the development process, Vietnam always prioritizes special relations with countries bordering Vietnam, in which it always pays attention to the relationship with China. The Minister and Chairman thanked the State Ethnic Committee of China for coordinating and assisting the Vietnam Nationalities Committee in carrying out many tasks related to delegation exchanges, people-to-people exchanges, and sharing experiences in ethnic work.
Through studying the functions and tasks of the Chinese State Ethnic Committee, Minister and Director Hou A Lenh said that the Vietnamese Ethnic Committee really wants to learn many valuable experiences in implementing ethnic work from China. In the process of coordinating the implementation of ethnic work tasks between the two countries, the assistance of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam plays a very important role in determining more substantive cooperation content, especially connecting cultural exchanges and people-to-people exchanges on both sides of the border. This is a strength that both sides have paid attention to and maintained in recent times.
Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Hau A Lenh hopes that the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam and the Ambassador himself will pay attention to and support the exchange of high-level delegations between the Ethnic Committees of the two countries; support scholarships for Vietnamese ethnic minority students to study in China, create conditions for Vietnamese students to study and conduct scientific research; support cultural and people-to-people exchanges, promote tourism development, etc.
