At a press conference on August 15 ahead of the visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, Chinese Ambassador Hung Ba expressed great expectations for the success of the trip.

According to a statement from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the invitation of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife will pay a state visit to China from August 18 to 20.

China is looking forward to the visit of General Secretary and President To Lam.

Emphasizing that this is the first foreign trip of General Secretary and President To Lam after being elected to the new position, Ambassador Hung Ba said that this demonstrates the high regard General Secretary and President To Lam has for the development of relations between the two Parties and two countries, as well as demonstrating the priority in the diplomatic and foreign policies of each country.

“China hopes and expects that the visit will continue to inherit the China-Vietnam friendship, consolidate political trust, promote the building of a China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, and make positive contributions to peace, stability and development in the region and the world,” Mr. Hung Ba expressed.

He said Vietnam is summarizing 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi process and building and drafting documents for the 14th Party Congress. Meanwhile, China has just successfully held the 3rd Central Conference of the 20th tenure with 369 important reform measures.

"Therefore, I think the visit is also an opportunity for both sides to exchange experiences in party building and national management," he said.

Answering questions from Tuoi Tre Online , Ambassador Hung Ba shared his feelings during his two direct meetings with the head of the Vietnamese Party and State in Hanoi last June and July.

He also said he would return to China to join the country's leaders in welcoming General Secretary and President To Lam to visit, marking the third time in three consecutive months that he has met directly with the head of the Vietnamese Party and State.

Recalling the last two meetings, Mr. Hung Ba said he was honored and deeply impressed by Mr. To Lam's opinions at the meeting.

In which Mr. To Lam emphasized that Vietnam's revolutionary process is closely related to China's revolutionary process. In the history of the struggle for national independence and liberation, the two countries have stood shoulder to shoulder, fought together, and forged a warm friendship.

“Therefore, during this visit, General Secretary and President To Lam will follow in Uncle Ho's revolutionary footsteps in China 100 years ago, demonstrating his high regard for the revolutionary friendship between the two Parties,” Mr. Hung Ba stated.

“What impressed me most was when General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that the international situation is developing more deeply and complicatedly than ever, China and Vietnam need to strengthen solidarity and cooperation to respond to challenges, join hands to realize the common strategic goals, which are the two 100-year goals set by each Party,” the Chinese Ambassador expressed.

Together we strive to build a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future

Responding to Tuoi Tre Online 's question about the implementation of building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future, which has strategic significance, Ambassador Hung Ba pointed out many positive developments.

In terms of political relations, exchanges and interactions between senior leaders of the two parties and countries have always been closely maintained. During his lifetime, through flexible forms, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had close, strategic exchanges with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited China twice to attend the World Economic Forum. The Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, Head of the Central External Relations Commission, Minister of Planning and Investment, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam also had very successful visits to China.

On the Chinese side, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Deputy Chairman of the National People's Congress, and Minister of Justice also visited and worked in Vietnam. The Party Secretary of Guangxi and Yunnan met with the Party Secretary of four Vietnamese provinces that border China.

Regarding national defense and security, Ambassador Hung Ba said that the two countries' cooperation is increasingly more substantial, achieving positive progress.

Economics and trade   The bilateral trade between the two countries continues to maintain its growth momentum. In the first 7 months of this year, according to statistics from China, bilateral trade turnover reached 145 billion USD, an increase of 21% over the same period.

People-to-people exchange activities have also developed, with more than 2.1 million Chinese tourists visiting Vietnam in the first seven months of the year, ranking second among countries sending foreign visitors to Vietnam.

Emphasizing the importance of a peaceful and stable land border between Vietnam and China, Ambassador Hung Ba affirmed that this is a model for countries in the region and the world.

He also shared some experiences in China's border development, believing that this is an area where the two sides can cooperate further for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

“It can be said that the two countries have made efforts to jointly implement the 2023 Joint Statement on the direction of “6 more” cooperation, promoting all fields and achieving positive results,” Ambassador Hung Ba affirmed.

Sharing that this was the last time he met the press during his term in Vietnam, Ambassador Hung Ba also expressed his feelings after nearly 6 years in Hanoi.

In it, he assessed that Vietnam's economy is very potential, as shown by the fact that he witnessed Vietnam's GDP double when he arrived and when he was about to end his term.

He especially appreciated Vietnam, when facing challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and unstable factors from the external environment, the Vietnamese economy still achieved outstanding results, maintained political and social stability and emphasized that this was an achievement "not easy to achieve".
