(QBĐT) - Recently, in Ly Nam commune (Bo Trach), the Institute of Agricultural Biology - Vietnam Academy of Agriculture in collaboration with An Nong Agricultural Cooperative successfully implemented a pilot model of growing raw potato plants to serve the processing industry.
The model was implemented with funding from the project “Improving rural income and human resources in Quang Binh province” supported by KOICA (Korea). The potato growing area is 1.5 hectares; with the participation of 3 farming households in Ly Nam commune.
After 3 months of planting (from December 2024 to March 2025), the experimental potato area has yielded tubers. The expected average yield is about 17 tons/ha; with a selling price of 8,200 VND/kg, after deducting costs (about 80 million VND/ha), the profit is from 50-60 million VND/ha.
Director of An Nong Agricultural Cooperative Le Dinh Qua said: “When implementing the model, we organized the signing of a contract to purchase potato products for farmers with Orion Vina Food Company Limited. Hopefully, from the initial effectiveness of the model, in the coming time, farmers will have a new direction from potatoes, contributing to increasing production value and improving their lives.”
