Today (October 2), the Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Giang province decided to declare an emergency situation for landslides in: Doc Cho area, Lam village, Truong Son commune (Luc Nam district); Buc mountain, Chay village, Phi Dien commune (Luc Ngan district) and Va pass area, Va village, An Ba commune; Tuan An, Tuan Son, Nam Bong, Linh Phu villages, Tuan Dao commune; residential group No. 1, An Chau town (Son Dong district).
Specifically, the landslide at Doc Cho area (Lam village, Truong Son commune, Luc Nam district) was identified on the mountainside, right behind the house. The landslide was about 30m wide, about 35m long, the largest crack was about 45cm wide, the sliding wall at the top of the landslide was about 0.5m high. The incident directly affected 16 households with 58 people.
The landslide at Buc Mountain (Chay village, Phi Dien commune, Luc Ngan district) was determined to have occurred at the streams on the slope of Buc Mountain. Here, there were 2 landslide locations with large volumes, slanted higher than the foot of the mountain at location 1 about 65m, location 2 about 90m; the distance from the landslide to the houses on the mountainside was about 215m. If the landslides slid down, they would directly affect 16 households with 64 people.
Landslides in Son Dong district include: Landslides in Va Pass area (Va village, An Ba commune); landslides in Nguyen Hong street area (residential group 1, An Chau town) and 4 landslides in Tuan Dao commune.
To overcome the landslide incidents, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Giang province assigned the People's Committees of Luc Nam, Luc Ngan, and Son Dong districts to continue to closely monitor the developments of the incident, and absolutely not allow people to return to live, especially during the 2024 storm season.
Arrange living quarters for affected households to ensure stability, while continuing to quickly review and assess neighboring households to proactively prevent and ensure safety; develop additional plans to respond to landslides in the 2024 natural disaster response plan.
Organize tree cutting, clearing, and placing markers to monitor cracks and landslides; limit rainwater from flowing into cracks.
Immediately review the emergency evacuation plan to prevent flash floods and landslides in the district in order of priority, clearly stating the number of households that need to be relocated. In addition to ensuring livelihoods, the arrangement of population evacuation must ensure safety requirements against natural disasters according to regulations.
Proactively arrange and use district funding, organize surveys, assessments, immediately develop emergency plans for construction incidents, issue orders to urgently handle construction incidents according to the "4 on-site" motto, and direct implementation in accordance with the provisions of law.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to regularly update and promptly report on the situation of incidents; coordinate with relevant agencies and units to guide the above districts in the process of implementation.
