Pursuant to the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province merged Long Dien and Dat Do districts to establish Long Dat district, operating from January 1, 2025.
Previously, at the 21st session of the People's Council of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, term VII, 2021 - 2026, a Resolution was passed approving the policy of rearranging administrative units at district and commune levels for the period 2023 - 2025 of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
On October 24, the National Assembly Standing Committee passed a Resolution on the plan to reorganize district and commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. In particular, it agreed to merge Long Dien district and Dat Do district into Long Dat district.
Thus, after more than 20 years of separation, Long Dien district and Dat Do district were allowed by the new Resolution to merge, named Long Dat district.
When the natural area and population size of Long Dien district and Dat Do district are merged into Dat Do district, Long Dat district will have a natural area of 267.42km2 and a population size of 241,501 people.
After the arrangement, Long Dat district has 11 commune-level administrative units, including 7 communes: Lang Dai, Long Tan, Phuoc Hoi, Phuoc Hung, Phuoc Long Tho, Phuoc Tinh, Tam An and 4 towns: Dat Do, Long Dien, Long Hai and Phuoc Hai.
Along with implementing the Resolution on merging and establishing new districts, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province also decided to establish the People's Court (TAND) of Long Dat district and the People's Procuracy (KSND) of Long Dat district. In which, the People's Court and the People's Procuracy of Long Dat district are responsible for inheriting the tasks and powers of the People's Court and the People's Procuracy of Long Dien district; the People's Court and the People's Procuracy of Dat Do district according to the provisions of law.
According to Mr. Dang Minh Thong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, to implement the above Resolution, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has deployed a plan to organize propaganda on the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, period 2023-2030 and to collect voters' opinions on the Project on the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels in the period 2023 - 2025.
According to Mr. Thong, the Provincial People's Committee has requested the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations of the province to actively coordinate with local agencies and units to strengthen propaganda and dissemination of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on the above-mentioned arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units.
