68 teams participate in the preliminary round of the Smart City Microchip Design Competition

NDO - The Smart City Microchip Design Competition is expected to seek breakthrough and creative ideas about microchip products and solutions, contributing to promoting the development of the domestic semiconductor industry.

On March 23, the preliminary round of the 2nd Smart Urban Microchip Design Competition officially took place at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

Meanwhile, in the central region, the preliminary round will take place on the afternoon of March 24 in Da Nang city.

The competition is chaired by the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, the Department of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University, the National Innovation Center (NIC) and the Da Nang Center for Research and Training in Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence (DSAC).

Speaking at the preliminary round, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Quoc Cuong, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, said that the Smart Urban Microchip Design Competition has entered its second year, becoming an annual national event, attracting the participation of a large number of students, young scientists, and innovative start-up projects across the country.

This enthusiastic response not only affirms the appeal of the contest but also shows the great potential of the young Vietnamese generation in mastering technology, contributing to the sustainable development of the country.

“We are living in an era of scientific and technological explosion, where being late means being left behind,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Le Quoc Cuong.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Quoc Cuong also emphasized that to realize the goal of mastering technology, training high-quality human resources and incubating "Make in Vietnam" microchip products is a key task.

This requires close coordination between the State, schools and businesses, the "3 houses" model that we always aim for.

With the theme of exploring the creative potential of the young generation, the preliminary round attracted the participation of 68 teams from all over the country.

Of these, 44 groups came from the southern region; 7 groups came from the northern region; 17 groups came from the central region.

The best projects in the preliminary round will enter the product completion round, held at Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park and the host units.

In the product completion round, the groups will receive in-depth training by leading experts in the field of semiconductor microcircuits such as building a microcircuit design problem; basic and advanced knowledge of semiconductor microcircuits; typical design solutions...

The training program is supported by the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park Training Center and the organizing units, with the participation of leading institutes, schools and high-tech enterprises across the country.

This is an opportunity for teams to access high-quality resources, thereby developing products in an optimal way.

Teams participating in the competition presented their microchip design ideas to the judges.

Through the competition, the Organizing Committee hopes to find breakthrough and creative ideas about microchip products and solutions, contributing to promoting the development of the domestic semiconductor industry.

Outstanding designs will be supported for practical application, commercialization and expanding cooperation opportunities between researchers, businesses and high-tech organizations.
