On the evening of March 24, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Nam province solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Quang Nam province (March 24, 1975 - March 24, 2025) and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee (March 28, 1930 - March 28, 2025). This is an important political event of profound significance to the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Nam province.
Attending the ceremony were senior leaders, including: Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; Phan Dien - former Politburo member, former Standing member of the Secretariat; Nguyen Duc Hai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Mai Van Chinh - Deputy Prime Minister; Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh - former Vice President; along with delegates leading the Central Committees, Ministries, branches, the High Command of Military Region V and diplomatic representatives from countries such as Laos, Russia, China, Japan, and South Korea.
On the side of Quang Nam province, comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, together with comrades of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, veteran revolutionaries, pre-uprising cadres, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor, and thousands of people and tourists attended the ceremony.
The speech at the ceremony, delivered by Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, reviewed the heroic tradition of the army and people of Quang Nam in the fight against foreign invaders and for national independence. He emphasized the great achievements that the Party Committee and people of Quang Nam have achieved after 50 years of liberation and 95 years of the establishment of the Provincial Party Committee.
Quang Nam has more than 65,400 martyrs, tens of thousands of wounded and sick soldiers, more than 15,300 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, the locality with the largest number of martyrs, wounded soldiers, and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in the country. This is a vivid proof of the patriotism and indomitable spirit of the people of Quang Nam.
In the 28 years since the province was re-established in 1997, the Quang Nam Party Committee has continued to affirm its leadership role and creativity in developing the province. Since 2017, Quang Nam has officially transferred domestic revenue to the Central Government and in 2024, the total economic revenue in the area reached more than 27,600 billion VND, 217 times higher than in 1997. The province's economic scale has now reached more than 129 trillion VND, with per capita income reaching more than 84 million VND. The economic structure has shifted strongly towards industry and services.
People's lives are constantly improving, the poverty rate is decreasing rapidly, only 4.56% by the end of 2024. The whole province has 149/193 communes recognized as meeting new rural standards, 5 district-level units meeting new rural standards.
In particular, from a purely agricultural province, Quang Nam now has Chu Lai Open Economic Zone with the largest automobile production and assembly center and mechanical industry in the country; Chu Lai airport has been put into effective operation and is planned to become a 4F international airport, and a seaport planned to be class 1 to receive 50,000-ton ships.
With great contributions in the resistance war and in peace, Quang Nam has been honored to receive many noble titles, such as: Gold Star Medal (1985), Ho Chi Minh Medal (2010), First Class Independence Medal (2017), Third Class Labor Medal (2020).
In the coming time, the province will continue to promote patriotic emulation movements, implement development targets, especially economic growth of 10% or more and complete the program to eliminate temporary housing for policy households and poor households.
Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet also emphasized key future projects, including Chu Lai international airport, high-tech agricultural zones, national highway renovation projects and new industrial centers, along with improving the investment environment to attract domestic and foreign investors.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, praised the achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Nam have achieved over the past 95 years. He said that these achievements are the crystallization of patriotism, indomitable will and endless creativity of all the people of Quang Nam. Quang Nam will continue to promote its cultural identity and revolutionary traditions, develop strongly in all fields and become a model of sustainable development.
Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that Quang Nam continue to urgently and resolutely carry out the work of streamlining the organization and apparatus of the political system according to Conclusion No. 126-KL/TW, dated February 14, 2025 and Conclusion No. 127-KL/TW, dated February 28, 2025 of the Politburo and the Secretariat. Continue to improve the leadership, governance and fighting capacity of the Party Committee in association with building a lean, compact, strong, efficient, effective and efficient political system; reduce overlap in management, focus resources on strong investment in infrastructure, health care, education and key economic sectors. Combine the streamlined apparatus with the structure, build a team of qualified and capable cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, are formally trained, have reasonable staffing, and standardize titles.
The art program at the celebration attracted the participation of many famous artists, along with a high-altitude fireworks display, bringing a vibrant and emotional atmosphere to a large number of people and visitors attending.
