50 years of literature and art on the theme of armed forces and revolutionary war

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc, Director of the Propaganda Department, emphasized: Exactly 50 years ago, under the talented leadership of the Party, with the strength of national solidarity, the support and assistance of socialist countries and peace-loving people around the world, our army and people carried out the General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1975, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, completely liberating the South, reunifying the country, completing the struggle for national liberation, opening a new era - the era of independence, unity, the whole country moving forward to build socialism.

The victory of the resistance war against America to save the country is still a brilliant golden milestone in the thousands of years of history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people.

April 30, 1975 has become a golden milestone in the history of the nation. 50 years of the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country is an opportunity for us to look back on a comprehensive journey in all fields and aspects of activities, including the fields of literature and art in general and literature and art on the subject of armed forces and revolutionary war in particular.

During the resistance wars for national liberation and defense of the Fatherland and in the new era, literature and art on this topic always appear as an endless spiritual stream, arousing national pride, encouraging the fighting spirit, the rise and the spirit of great solidarity of our entire Party, army and people.

Through literary and artistic works, it has contributed to orienting thoughts, guiding people towards the values ​​of truth, goodness and beauty; fostering and building the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers.

The scientific conference is of great significance, contributing to looking back on the past half-century, under the leadership of the Party, the deep concern of the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, literature and art in the Army in general, on the topic of armed forces and revolutionary war in particular, have had great achievements, contributing to the construction and development of Vietnamese literature and art in building and defending the Fatherland.

In addition, the workshop clarified the values ​​and meanings of the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in literature and art; the great contributions of literature and art on the theme of armed forces and revolutionary war in educating the tradition of revolutionary struggle for cadres, soldiers and people; encouraged and promoted the talents and enthusiasm of artists in composing and promoting literary and artistic works of high ideological and artistic value, contributing to fostering and strongly arousing the spirit of patriotism and national pride.

Equally important, the workshop also clarified the limitations and shortcomings, especially in management, building and developing the team of artists and writers...; at the same time, it pointed out the causes, drew lessons from experience to suggest new policies, solutions and directions for literature and art on the topic of armed forces and revolutionary war until 2030 and the following years.

Speaking at the workshop, Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, highly appreciated the close and thoughtful organization of the Propaganda Department and the People's Army Publishing House. He especially appreciated the attention, responsibility and enthusiasm of the generals, scientists and artists inside and outside the army. The presentations at the workshop were the result of hard work in research, demonstrating great responsibility to history, the present and the future.

The conference was attended by many delegates, experts and artists.

The Head of the General Department of Politics requested the delegates to pay attention to clarifying a number of key issues, including: Analyzing and explaining in depth the outstanding achievements and valuable contributions of literature and art in honoring and spreading the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers. Thereby, arousing patriotism, revolutionary traditions, national pride, contributing to building and firmly protecting the socialist Fatherland in the new situation; in the spirit of frankness and openness, it is necessary to point out the limitations and shortcomings in the leadership, direction, management and organization of literary and artistic activities in the army. From there, draw valuable lessons, creating a solid foundation for continuing to develop in the right direction and more effectively in the coming time.

Directly, Conclusion No. 84-KL/TW dated June 21, 2024 of the Politburo (13th tenure) on continuing to implement Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW of the Politburo (10th tenure) "on continuing to build and develop literature and art in the new period". This is a core issue, the most important purpose of the workshop.

There were more than 60 presentations by the Chief of the General Department of Politics, leaders of functional agencies, scientists, literary and art critics, and artists inside and outside the military. Each presentation was an independent, elaborate, and dedicated research work by each author, approached from many different perspectives, with similar and different comments and assessments.

Poet Nguyen Binh Phuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Writers Association and Editor-in-Chief of the Army Literature Magazine, delivered a keynote speech at the conference.
