On Vietnam Consumer Rights Day (March 15) this year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade continues to choose the theme "Transparent Information - Safe Consumption" to emphasize the important role of information transparency in building a healthy consumer environment. Through that, it calls on agencies and organizations to promote propaganda and dissemination of the Law on Consumer Rights Protection, ensure the legitimate rights of people and promote a fair business environment. Many specific solutions have been implemented by the Department of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies to support businesses in information transparency, raise consumer awareness, and strengthen market control to prevent commercial fraud.

The police force and the agricultural sector coordinate to control the quality of goods according to the circulation management hierarchy in Nam Dinh city. |
In recent years, the domestic business community has provided many good quality products with rich, diverse designs, affordable prices, and are the priority choice of consumers. However, many domestic products are being "surrounded" by counterfeit, fake, and poor quality goods in many areas, from rural to urban areas, in many market segments; even present in supermarkets and large stores. In particular, the situation of advertising that exaggerates the truth and exaggerates the product's uses on e-commerce platforms is booming, causing losses to consumers and damaging the reputation and causing economic damage to genuine manufacturers and serious business people...
To protect consumer rights, the Department of Industry and Trade has coordinated with sectors and localities to implement a plan to respond to Vietnam Consumer Rights Day 2025 starting from the end of 2024 shopping season and lasting until the end of May 2025, with the peak time being March 2025. Consumer rights protection activities focus on: Propagating and disseminating legal regulations related to consumer rights protection; the purpose and meaning of the theme of Vietnam Consumer Rights Day 2025. Introducing consumer protection applications to the entire population to help consumers have the opportunity to access regulations, policies, and legitimate rights protected by the State as well as directly notify the authorities when they realize their rights are violated. At the same time, coordinate with a number of e-commerce trading floors, e-commerce websites, organizations and individuals doing business on digital platforms to implement promotional programs, show gratitude to consumers and organize activities to promote interactions between businesses and consumers. The Department of Industry and Trade has printed documents to propagate legal regulations advising consumers when shopping online and how to resolve any questions or disputes; hang banners in response to Consumer Rights Day in a number of traditional markets, supermarkets, and on the streets; integrate propaganda activities, responding to Vietnam Consumer Rights Day into the programs of agencies and units and send SMS Brandname messages with propaganda content about Vietnam Consumer Rights Day to subscribers in the province. Mobilize the business community to organize and implement focused promotional programs, market stabilization, price reduction, customer appreciation, events aimed at the consumer community (such as participating in fairs, exhibitions, etc.), integrated with the program "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods"... so that consumers can purchase goods and services that ensure quality and reasonable prices.
Along with propaganda work, the Department of Industry and Trade also coordinates with functional forces to support and guide businesses in registering product quality, applying advanced product quality management processes and systems, and coordinating with telecommunications service providers to put products on e-commerce trading floors for consumers to easily access products. At the same time, strengthen inspection and control of quality and products circulating on the market, promptly prevent and handle acts of trading in goods that violate the law on consumer rights protection, and publicize information about violating organizations and individuals.
On the side of enterprises, organizations and individuals in production and business, they also raise awareness of compliance with the provisions of the Law on Consumer Rights Protection. Proactively implement the "Enterprise for Consumers" Program; build a specialized department to advise and support the reception and settlement of complaints for consumers; publicize hotlines and customer care email addresses on the enterprise's website and the consumer rights protection program...; constantly improve the quality of products and services; focus on building the enterprise's image; fulfill the social responsibility of enterprises. Proactively coordinate with State management agencies to fulfill the responsibility of protecting consumer rights, organize healthy production and business; promptly handle requests and complaints from consumers about product quality as well as customer care policies...
To continue to ensure the highest benefits of consumers, in the coming time, functional sectors will continue to promote propaganda to raise awareness of consumers when shopping, and the responsibility of enterprises in transparent product information towards safe consumption. Proactively enhance responsibility in receiving and resolving feedback and recommendations related to products and goods; encourage and facilitate consumers and suppliers of goods and services to resolve disputes. At the same time, strengthen inspection, examination and strict handling according to the provisions of law for violations of consumer rights protection, contributing to building a healthy business environment. In addition, consumers and the business community need to actively reflect and promptly inform State management agencies, relevant organizations and individuals when discovering goods and services that do not ensure quality or pose a risk of unsafety for consumers circulating on the market.
