Honoring 26 outstanding journalistic works on agriculture and rural areas

At the event, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, 10 consolation prizes, and 10 thematic prizes to authors and groups of authors from press agencies nationwide. The first prize went to the series of articles: "Glitches" in digital transformation of agriculture, by the group of authors Tran Van Quang - Nguyen Thi Quynh, Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper/Dan Viet electronic newspaper.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Journalist Luu Quang Dinh - Editor-in-Chief of Nong Thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper, Head of the Award Organizing Committee said: The biggest difference of the National Press Award on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas is that for the first time there is a national press award in the field of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas. Therefore, authors from non-professionals to journalists from domestic press agencies have actively and enthusiastically participated in submitting articles.

According to statistics, after just over 7 months of launching the Award, there were 2,769 works, of which 1,521 were sent to be published in the Today's Rural Newspaper/Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper and 1,248 works were published in newspapers nationwide. With strict and serious rules, the judging process was carried out through many rounds, including: Preliminary round, preliminary round and finally the final round.

According to the Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, Luong Quoc Doan, the works participating in the award are generally of good quality, abundant in quantity, diverse in genre, and creative in presentation style. The articles and works span many genres, from: Political commentary, reflection, reportage to criticism, published in print and electronic newspapers. Many articles are highly practical, breathe life from today, discover typical factors, and excellent portraits of Vietnamese farmers.

Some articles are imbued with humanity, about the will to rise up of farmers in the new era; many articles demonstrate high theoretical and in-depth content to solve problems of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas; current hot topics and themes of the agricultural sector such as ecological agriculture, circular economy, promoting chain linkages, developing collective economy, etc., as judge Hoang Trong Thuy said, reading the works, one can see not only the dedication and concerns but also the sweat and tears of the writers dripping onto each page.

“Through the articles, works, and series of topics, we have contributed to changing the thinking of farmers in the new period, shifting from agricultural production thinking to agricultural economic thinking, integrating multi-values. Each article and each award-winning work this time paints a colorful, vibrant picture of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas in Vietnam,” Mr. Luong Quoc Doan emphasized.

Assessing the significance of the award, Ms. Bui Thi Thom - Vice President of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Head of the Steering Committee of the Award said: "The National Press Award on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Areas is an important activity of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to welcome the 8th Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union for the 2023-2028 term. This is also a specific activity to effectively implement Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Areas. Thereby, creating a spread and consensus to the whole society on the policies and guidelines of the Party and State".

Evaluating the organization of the award, Mr. Tran Thanh Lam - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, member of the Award Steering Committee emphasized: "The fact that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union chaired and directed the organization of the award has created a useful and professional playground not only for journalists but also for all those interested in agriculture, farmers and rural areas. Without this press award, it would be very difficult to have articles honored, very difficult to have authors respected and promoted in a field that is also very important, vivid, vast but also very difficult and arduous".

Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Tran Thanh Lam also assessed that the award took place at the right "point" of many particularly meaningful events, when we are actively implementing the content of the Resolution Document of the 13th National Party Congress on "ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers"; 2 years of implementing Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW of the 13th Party Central Committee on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas to 2030, with a vision to 2045 and at the right time before the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union (term 2023-2028).

Also at the Award Ceremony, Journalist Luu Quang Dinh - Editor-in-Chief of Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper/Dan Viet Electronic launched the National Press Award on Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas of Vietnam in 2024. It is expected that the Award will expand in scale and types compared to this year to attract more quality press works on the topic of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas.
