In 1997, with the help of local people, a group of members of the British Caving Research Association (BCRA) explored a cave system with three large caves in succession: Tiger Cave, Over Cave and Pygmy Cave (the 4th largest cave in the world).

Kong Collapse Sinkhole.

A large sinkhole has appeared in the cave system and is now called Kong Collapse. The sinkhole formed and divided this cave system into 3 caves: Pygmy, Over and Tiger with different majestic and magnificent landscapes. BCRA cave explorers discovered Kong Collapse with a very special shape after swimming for 20 minutes through deep water from the front door to the back door of Dai A cave (a cave in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park). However, the exploration team had to turn back because they could not find the exit and had to temporarily call it a dead-end sinkhole.

Recently, with the support of cave experts, Jungle Boss explorers continued their journey to explore Tiger Cave. And luckily, they discovered all the entrances and exits of the sinkhole and the structure throughout the system of 3 caves.

To find the entrance to Kong Collapse, the team of experts used the most modern and safe specialized equipment to find the exact location of the door. They had a very hard time following the trail behind the Tiger Cave entrance and from there climbing a high vertical cliff to get to the sinkhole.

Kong Collapse is both mysterious and stunningly beautiful. There are currently two ways to enter the sinkhole that people can choose from: swimming through the Great A Cave or rappelling down from the mouth of the hole on low cliffs.

With a height of up to 450m from the highest peak to the bottom, Kong Collapse has become one of the highest sinkholes in the world with an underground river and a mysterious primeval forest inside waiting to be discovered by humans. The reason this sinkhole is named Kong is because its shape from above looks very similar to the giant head of the character King Kong in the famous blockbuster of the same name.

However, because they have just been put into tourism exploitation, the number of visitors to these 3 caves is still very small.

Wild and poetic in Hama Da valley…

Mr. Le Luu Dung, Director of Jungle Boss Company Limited (the unit that is exploiting the Ha Ma Da valley discovery and experience tour) shared that in recent years, Phong Nha-Ke Bang tourism has had many positive changes, tourism products have become increasingly diverse and rich in quality, and service quality has been gradually improved. In addition to traditional tourism products, such as: Phong Nha-Tien Son cave, Thien Duong cave, exploring the nature of Gao forest-Ozo cave, "Conquering Son Doong - the world's largest cave"..., eco-tourism products, experiences and nature exploration in the National Park have been focused on investment and effectively exploited to serve the needs of visitors.

Tourists enjoy swimming in Ma Da Lake.

“Ha Ma Da Valley, located deep in the heart of the World Natural Heritage Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, is considered an attractive and interesting destination. This is a wonderful experiential tourism route for those who want to immerse themselves in the wild and poetic natural world…”, Mr. Dung shared.

The Hama Da Valley has a fairly large area, is relatively flat and surrounded by majestic limestone mountains. Along with that are pristine primeval forests with many rare plant species. In this valley, there is Ma Da Lake, which is known by tourists as the "Natural Swimming Pool". The lake is connected to an underground river cave, so the water flows from the rocky mountain stream. The water in Ma Da Lake has a natural blue color like jade. The water here is so clear that even when standing on the shore, it is easy to see schools of stream fish swimming deep in the lake.

Here, visitors can enjoy swimming in the cool water of the lake. Those who love adventure will have the opportunity to try the game of "diving" from the stone steps with a height of 1.5-5.5m on the cliff and throw themselves into the deep water.

After enjoying the cool water of Ma Da Lake, visitors will rest next to the lake and be fascinated by the view of the primeval forest, the majestic limestone mountains hidden behind the white clouds, listening to the chirping of hundreds of birds, the calls of wild animals...
