People in Thanh Hoa have more opportunities for vocational training and sustainable livelihoods from a project funded by WI

This is one of the results stated in Decision No. 498/QD-UBND approved by the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province to receive the Project "Prevention and combat of human trafficking" in Nong Cong and Yen Dinh districts, Thanh Hoa province sponsored by Winrock International Institute for Agricultural Development (WI) - Representative Office in Vietnam.

On February 20, 2025, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued Decision No. 498/QD-UBND approving the receipt of non-refundable aid from Winrock International Institute for Agricultural Development (WI) - Representative Office in Vietnam of 744,000 USD, equivalent to more than 18 billion VND. The project implementation location is in Nong Cong district and Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province and the implementation period is from April 2025 to September 2028.

The project aims to strengthen provincial-level response activities to identify and support victims and prevent human trafficking through victim-centered, localized and adaptive approaches.

Specifically, Project Objective 1 is to establish and strengthen a sustainable victim-centered identification and service delivery system.

This objective is to establish comprehensive and protective victim identification and screening mechanisms in factory and industrial communities (which are destinations for unskilled and domestic migrant workers) and the informal sector of the tourism and hospitality industry.

And provide victim-centered frontline response, referral and integration services for victims and suspected victims, delivered by Government agencies, local organisations and other stakeholders.

Project objective 2 is to develop and widely use innovative and targeted prevention approaches to stop under-recognized forms of trafficking, particularly among communities with limited access to information and support services.

This includes equipping high-risk groups with appropriate knowledge and skills, helping them to improve their capacity to make informed decisions regarding safe migration and employment.

And reduce unsafe migration among rural populations and groups at high risk of trafficking through vocational training and sustainable livelihood opportunities in their communities.

This project also aims to educate people in Nong Cong and Yen Dinh districts to be aware of criminals' tricks, support each other in the fight against human trafficking, as well as prevent human trafficking through vocational training opportunities and sustainable livelihoods in the community from project support.
