Hanoi City has just issued a decision to build, renovate and upgrade Route 70, Ha Dong - Van Dien - Tu Hiep intersection section, scale 1/500, the section from the 110kV Van Dien transformer station to Tu Hiep intersection is 1.6 km long; 8 lanes wide, 50 meter cross-section.
To resolve the above situation, the Hanoi People's Committee has just issued a Decision approving the plan and location of the route under the investment project to build, renovate and upgrade Route 70, section Ha Dong - Van Dien - Tu Hiep intersection, scale 1/500 (section from the 110kV Van Dien transformer station to Tu Hiep intersection) in Van Dien town and the communes: Tam Hiep, Vinh Quynh, Tu Hiep (Thanh Tri district).
This is a main urban road, about 1.6 km long; cross-sectional scale of 50.0 m, cross-sectional components include: main roadway on both sides is 2x7.5 m wide (4 lanes); local roadway on both sides is 2x7 m wide (4 lanes); median strip is 3 m wide; median strip between main roadway and local roadway is 2x1 m wide; sidewalks on both sides are 2x8 m wide. In the photo is the area of 110kV transformer station - Thanh Tri Power Company. Currently, this road has only 2 mixed traffic lanes.
Route 70 is often congested, especially at the intersection with National Highway 1A. The reason is that this location intersects the North-South railway line, making the congestion worse every time the train passes. It is known that for the intersection between the route and the existing North-South railway line and Ngoc Hoi route (National Highway 1A), a direct overpass will be arranged, the cross-section components include: The direct overpass is 26 m wide (6 lanes); the two-sided access road below the direct overpass is 2x7 m wide (4 lanes); the sidewalks on both sides are 2x5 m wide.

In addition, Provincial Road 70 also acts as a bypass for heavy trucks and container trucks passing through Hanoi, connecting with National Highway 32, National Highway 6, National Highway 1A and Lang - Hoa Lac Road. Most of them have only 2 lanes, are degraded, muddy on rainy days and dusty on sunny days, so expansion is essential to improve traffic conditions and meet urban development needs.
The intersection between Highway 70 and Highway 1A is a frequent traffic jam, even during non-rush hour.
The section in front of Hanoi College is quite narrow, this is also one of the "black spots" of traffic congestion on Highway 70.
Currently, Tu Hiep intersection is implementing construction of a road connecting Phap Van - Cau Gie with Ring Road 3.
Previously, Route 70 at Xa La intersections, in front of Tan Trieu K Hospital, also had plans to renovate and upgrade, but it has not yet been put into operation. This area also often experiences traffic jams. Photo: LH
