Within the framework of the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025, on March 12, the 4th Lak District Dugout Canoe Racing Festival officially took place, attracting a large number of tourists. At the event, Miss H'Hen Nie not only immersed herself in the vibrant atmosphere but also sent a sincere invitation to visitors to visit her home.


The 4th Lak District Dugout Canoe Racing Festival took place with many attractive supporting activities imbued with the culture of the indigenous M'nong people living in the area.

These include rituals such as worshiping the water wharf, praying for elephant health, launching a boat on Lak Lake; buffet party and bathing elephants; Central Highlands gong cultural exchange night; art photo exhibition at the Lak District Beauty Contest; displaying traditional booths of local products...

The boat racing festival will take place in three parts: opening, competition and closing ceremony with the participation of 62 athletes from 5 competing units including Yang Tao, Bong Krang, Dak Lieng communes, Lien Son town and Lak Tented Camp Resort.

Each unit has 4 teams. The teams compete in 3 events: 4-athlete, 3-athlete and 2-athlete canoe racing.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nay Y Phu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lak district, emphasized that dugout canoes have been a means of production and labor associated with the M'nong people for generations, carrying a unique cultural feature.

Therefore, organizing the race on the occasion of the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025 is not only to introduce the potential for cultural and eco-tourism development of Dak Lak in general and Lak district in particular, but also an opportunity to honor the cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, 5 units, with 62 athletes from Lien Son town, the communes of Yang Tao, Bong Krang, Dak Lieng and Lak Tented Camp tourist area competed in 3 events: 4-athlete dugout canoe racing, 3-athlete dugout canoe racing and 2-athlete dugout canoe racing.

The competition was exciting and bustling, attracting many spectators including local people and tourists from inside and outside the province to cheer.

Miss H'Hen Nie, Media Ambassador of the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2025, shared her special feelings when coming to Lak Lake.

She expressed her love for the wild, poetic beauty of this place - a place with ancient stilt houses, gentle elephants and historical relics such as Bao Dai Palace.

As a child of Dak Lak, coming from a family with a tradition of making coffee, H'Hen always wants to promote coffee as well as the image of Dak Lak people to domestic and international friends.

The organizing committee awarded the prize to the team with the best performance in the 2-athlete canoe racing event.

At the end of the race, the Organizing Committee awarded 3 first prizes, 3 second prizes, 3 third prizes and 6 consolation prizes to the units. In which, the first prize in all 3 categories belonged to Lien Son town.

The Organizing Committee also awarded the First Prize to Lien Son Town; Second Prize to Dak Lieng Commune; Third Prize to Bong Krang Commune and Encouragement Prize to Yang Tao Commune.
