On May 21, at the Hue City Martyrs' Cemetery, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thua Thien Hue province solemnly held a memorial service and burial ceremony for 12 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died on the Lao battlefield, searched and collected by Collection Team 192 during the 2023-2024 dry season in the two provinces of Salavan and Sekong (Laos).
Attending the event were Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the National Steering Committee 515; Colonel Doan Xuan Buong, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 4, Head of the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 4.
Also attending were comrades: Nguyen Van Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of departments, branches, and cadres, soldiers and people of Thua Thien Hue province.

On the Lao side, there were Comrade Khammonsconde, Deputy Governor, Head of the Special Work Committee of Sekong Province; Major General Phuvan Phimmachan, Political Commander of the Provincial Military Command, Deputy Head of the Special Work Committee of Salavan Province (Laos).
In the sacred and emotional moment, the cadres, soldiers and people of Thua Thien Hue province respectfully bowed before the souls of the heroic martyrs who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and for the happiness of the people.
At the Hue City Martyrs' Cemetery, the delegation rang the bell at the Hoa Binh bell tower, offered incense and flowers, and observed a minute of silence to remember the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for independence, freedom, and the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Before the heroic martyrs, on behalf of the provincial leaders, on behalf of the leaders of Thua Thien Hue province, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh expressed his condolences and infinite gratitude to the martyrs, who sacrificed their blood and bones for peace, independence and solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos; at the same time, he highly appreciated the efforts and results that the officers and soldiers of the Martyrs' Remains Collection Team 192 achieved in this collection.
Comrade Nguyen Thanh Binh emphasized, “Searching for and gathering the remains of martyrs who died in Laos is a sacred and meaningful task, a noble gesture of the living towards the deceased. This is an important and urgent task; both sentimental and responsible to repay the great service of the martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the revolutionary cause of the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos, demonstrating responsibility towards the relatives and comrades of the martyrs”.

On behalf of the leaders of Thua Thien Hue province, comrade Nguyen Thanh Binh respectfully thanked the Lao Party, State and revolutionary people for their best sentiments, considering Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts as their own children, for protecting, covering, standing side by side to overcome all difficulties and hardships, fighting and winning together.
At the same time, we would like to thank the effective direction of the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Military Region 4 Command, and especially express our sincere gratitude to the Party Committee, government, people, and armed forces of the two provinces of Salavan and Sekong (Laos) for their attention and assistance in searching, gathering, and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives back to the country.
With the national morality of “When drinking water, remember its source”, for many years, implementing the policies of the two Parties, two States, two Armies of Vietnam and Laos; the drastic direction of the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Military Region 4 Command and the facilitation of the two provinces of Salavan and Sekong (Laos); the coordination in searching for, gathering and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in Laos has achieved encouraging results; gradually meeting the aspirations of the relatives and families of the martyrs.

After more than 6 months of searching and collecting the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died on the battlefield in Laos, despite many difficulties in terms of terrain and harsh weather, the officers and staff of Collection Team 192 have strived to complete their assigned tasks.
With the help of the Lao Party Committee, government, armed forces and people, Collection Team 192 organized a survey and searched for and recovered the remains of 12 martyrs in 8 districts of Salavan province and 3 districts of Sekong province, brought them back to the country and buried them at the Hue City Martyrs' Cemetery.
