NDO - After a period of uncontrollable bleeding from the mouth, a 21-year-old female patient was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure.

Female patient BQH, 21 years old, in Nam Dinh, had never had a health check-up until her body showed serious symptoms: prolonged fatigue, accompanied by uncontrollable bleeding from the mouth.

When he came to the Central Endocrinology Hospital for examination, the patient was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease, hypertension and type 2 diabetes, blood clotting disorder, and severe anemia - diseases commonly found in the elderly but appearing in a young person.

Through medical history, this patient lost 20 kg in 6 months, was often tired, dizzy, and had poor appetite.

Test results and kidney function indicators showed seriousness: high blood urea (66.9 mmol/L - far exceeding the normal threshold of 2.5-6.4 mmol/L), increased creatinine (3449 µmol/L - far exceeding the normal threshold of 53-97 µmol/L), reflecting end-stage kidney failure requiring periodic dialysis to maintain life.

Blood count showed only 1.67 T/L of red blood cells (much lower than the normal threshold of 4-5.9 T/L) and hemoglobin only 50 g/L (much lower than the normal threshold of 120-160 g/L), this result showed that the patient was suffering from very severe anemia.

However, because chronic anemia progresses silently, the patient's body gradually adapts, making the symptoms unclear until the condition becomes serious. These numbers not only reflect a body that has suffered long-term damage, but also serve as a warning about the consequences of ignoring one's own health.

If patients had regular health check-ups early, these diseases could have been detected and treated promptly, avoiding the current serious progression.

Master, Doctor Trinh Quang Doan, Department of Nephrology and Urology said that chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney failure or anemia can develop silently without obvious symptoms, until it is too late.

Therefore, everyone should take the time to care for their own health and their family's health. Regular health check-ups, even when you feel healthy, are the best way to detect and prevent dangerous diseases early.
