On August 1, Lam Dong Provincial Police held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision to grant the Certificate of National Merit and the Minister of Public Security's decision to promote the ranks of three traffic police officers who died while performing their duties at the Bao Loc Pass landslide site.
Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Van Tuyen presented the decision of the Minister of Public Security to the family of the fallen soldier.
Promote the rank from major to lieutenant colonel for soldier Nguyen Khac Thuong (42 years old, from Hai Duong); from first lieutenant to major for soldier Le Quang Thanh (46 years old, from Quang Tri); from first lieutenant to captain for soldier Le Anh Sang (33 years old, from Ha Tinh).
Major General Le Van Tuyen, Deputy Minister of Public Security, visited the family of the martyr, presided over and presented the decision of the Minister of Public Security, supporting the families of the martyrs with 100 million VND/family from the Comradeship Fund.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuc, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, on behalf of the Prime Minister, awarded the Certificate of Merit to the relatives of the three martyrs.
Major General Le Van Tuyen encouraged the relatives of the fallen soldiers.
Previously, at around 2:30 p.m. on July 30, upon receiving information that the Bao Loc pass checkpoint (the area in the middle of Bao Loc pass) had a landslide, a number of soldiers from the Madanguoi traffic police station who were on patrol and control duty returned to the Bao Loc pass traffic police checkpoint to help people move vehicles and equipment.
While on duty, a large amount of rock and soil fell down, burying 3 traffic police officers and a civilian.
After the incident, Bao Loc Pass was blocked off so that rescuers could search for the victims’ bodies. By noon on July 31, the last victim’s body was found.
