(NLDO) - After 5 years of construction being suspended in an unfinished state, the Bao Loc City bypass (Lam Dong) is about to have a project set up for completion.
On March 2, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Traffic Project Management Board to be the investor and deploy the preparation of a report proposing investment policies for the investment project to complete the Bao Loc City bypass route.
Bao Loc City bypass road stopped construction nearly 5 years after completing about 70% of the project volume.
The Department of Finance is responsible for determining capital sources, the ability to balance local budget capital and coordinating with relevant units to carry out investment procedures according to regulations.
The Bao Loc City bypass is over 15 km long, with an investment capital of 806 billion VND, started construction in February 2017 and is expected to be completed and put into use in 2019. This is a supplementary item using the remaining capital of the National Highway 20 renovation project invested by the Ministry of Transport (formerly).
In 2023, the bypass road suffered serious landslides.
However, construction on this route had to be temporarily suspended from October 2020 when about 70% of the project had been completed. This suspension was under the direction of the Ministry of Transport to wait for additional capital.
According to the report of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, the old project has completed 15 km of roadbed, crushed stone foundation, cement-reinforced crushed stone and drainage system; basically completed 10/15 km of C19 asphalt concrete road surface and completed 3 reinforced concrete bridges.
Although local authorities prohibit traffic, many people still ride motorbikes in, posing a risk of accidents.
The road has been temporarily suspended for nearly 5 years, causing road sections to deteriorate and landslides due to storms and rains, affecting traffic circulation and safety of people in the area.
The remaining unfinished volume includes about 5 km of C19 asphalt concrete; 15 km of C12.5 asphalt concrete for the entire route; unfinished longitudinal drainage system; intersection with National Highway 55 and safety system along the entire route.
According to the report, the estimated cost to complete the Bao Loc City bypass project is about 352 billion VND.
