On the morning of August 11, in Phu Nhuan commune, General Director of Vietnam Bank for Social Policies Duong Quyet Thang had a working session in Bao Thang district on the implementation of policy credit.
Attending the meeting was comrade Nguyen Hai Ha, Director of the Bank for Social Policies, Lao Cai Province Branch.
On the side of Bao Thang district, there were comrade Ngo Minh Que, Chairman of the District People's Committee; Nguyen Duc Binh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee, Head of the Board of Directors of the District Social Policy Bank Transaction Office; representatives of organizations entrusted by Bao Thang district; representatives of the People's Committee of Phu Nhuan commune and leaders of the Savings and Loan Groups in Phu Nhuan commune.
According to the report of the Transaction Office of the Social Policy Bank of Bao Thang district, by the end of July 2023, the total lending turnover of Credit Programs in the district reached over 79,855 billion VND, with more than 10,000 customers borrowing capital; total outstanding debt reached over 614.2 billion VND (an increase of 3,829 billion VND compared to 2022). The quality of policy credit activities reached 99.41 points/100 points; the principal collection rate reached 99.6%; the interest collection rate reached 100%; the quality of activities of the Savings and Loan Group reached 97.1%; the overdue debt rate was 0.03%.
Phu Nhuan is the commune with the largest total outstanding debt of credit programs in Bao Thang district with over 58.9 billion VND, with over 1,000 households borrowing capital; there is no overdue debt or frozen debt in the commune, credit quality is Good. Through policy credit capital, it contributes to reducing the poverty rate of the commune in the period 2021 - 2015 from 17.51% to 8.58%; near-poor households from 12.21% to 8.86%. When accessing preferential capital from the State, households all use it for the right purpose, promote efficiency, and the lives of poor households in the area are constantly improving.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Duc Binh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee, Head of the Board of Directors of the Bao Thang District Social Policy Bank Transaction Office, thanked the attention and sharing of the staff of the Social Policy Bank at all levels in deploying policy credit capital for people in the area. Policy capital has been effective, put into practice and had a strong, positive impact, contributing to reducing the rate of poor households; raising the total number of well-off households in the district in 2022 to 45%.
To achieve the goal of sustainable poverty reduction, Bao Thang district hopes that in the coming time, the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies will continue to pay attention to and implement credit programs for local people. Bao Thang district also recommends that the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies increase loan capital for the job creation loan program; support funding for the construction of the district's Social Policy Bank Transaction Office, to have better conditions to serve the people's loan needs and improve credit quality.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Duong Quyet Thang, General Director of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, highly appreciated the results achieved by Bao Thang district in implementing policy credit and suggested that in the coming time, along with focusing on economic development, the district should pay more attention to ensuring social security. It is necessary to develop a master plan for implementing policy credit based on the actual conditions of the district so that the implementation can be highly effective.
The General Director of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies affirmed that the Bank for Social Policies will continue to accompany Lao Cai province in general and Bao Thang district in particular in implementing social policy credit, supporting poor households to escape poverty sustainably and policy beneficiaries to access preferential credit capital to serve production and business activities, actively contributing to poverty reduction in the area.
On this occasion, the delegation of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies presented 170 gifts to poor students and poor households in Phu Nhuan commune.
