On March 22, Military Region 4 Economic Cooperation Corporation solemnly celebrated its 40th anniversary of tradition (March 23, 1985 - March 23, 2025).
Senior Lieutenant General Thoong Loi - Xi Li Vong, Deputy Minister of National Defense, presented the Lao President's Friendship Medal to the Military Region 4 Economic Cooperation Corporation.
Attending the ceremony, from the Lao People's Democratic Republic, there were comrades: Senior Lieutenant General Thongloi Silivong, member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Khamphao Ernthavanh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam; Nguyen Minh Tam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Laos; and former comrades Heads of the General Department of Politics, General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.
On the side of the Military Region 4 Command, there were Lieutenant General Ha Tho Binh, Commander of the Military Region; Lieutenant General Tran Vo Dung, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of the Military Region.
On the side of Thanh Hoa province's leaders, there was Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Doan Anh, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, former Commander of Military Region 4.

Exactly 40 years ago, on March 23, 1985, in Nam Anh commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province, the hometown of beloved President Ho Chi Minh, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Cam, Commander of Military Region 4 signed Decision No. 84 to establish "QK4 Timber Exploitation Site" (codenamed C85), now the Military Region 4 Economic Cooperation Corporation, whose main task is to cooperate with the Mountainous Economic Revitalization Company of the Lao Ministry of National Defense to carry out timber exploitation for export, forest economic cooperation, and combine national defense and security in accordance with the policies of the two states of Vietnam and Laos.
Since its inception, the Economic Cooperation Company has operated effectively, creating an important premise to open up solid steps for the continuous development of the corporation. Up to now, the Economic Cooperation Corporation of Military Region 4 has carried out the tasks of national defense, security and production and business in the country and Laos with 11 main industries. Through production and business activities and project development, it has contributed to creating jobs and stable income for more than 3,000 workers both in the country and Laos. Annual production and business results have always been maintained and grown steadily. Current average revenue is more than 2,997.6 billion VND/year; average pre-tax profit is 457.3 billion VND/year, average budget contribution is 699.2 billion VND/year; average income of workers is 15 million VND/month; equity capital is 957 billion VND; Total asset value is 2,382 billion VND.
Along with effectively implementing production and business tasks, the Economic Cooperation Corporation also does a good job in foreign affairs, helping Lao localities deploy and replicate models and projects for socio-economic development and poverty reduction in clusters. Every year, the corporation has invested in seedlings, fertilizers, provided technical guidance on care and organized the purchase, processing and consumption of thousands of tons of agricultural products for people in Lao clusters; created jobs and stable income for thousands of households, the rate of people benefiting from the projects is on average 40 to 45% of the total number of households in the project area; the average income is from 35 to 40 million kip/ha; in the project areas, the rate of poor households is only over 8% and the number of rich households has increased to 16% (according to statistical survey data in clusters in 2022). That result has contributed to fostering the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos "Forever green, forever sustainable".

After 40 years of construction and development, the Economic Cooperation Corporation has been honored to receive many noble awards from the Party, State, and Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam and Laos. In 1999, the State of Vietnam awarded the First Class Labor Medal; in 2003, it was awarded the Second Class Feat Medal. In particular, on December 12, 2000, the corporation was honored to receive the title of Labor Hero in the Renovation Period from the Party and State. In recognition of the achievements and contributions of the corporation to Laos, the State, Government, and Ministry of National Defense of Laos have awarded: First and Second Class Labor Medal; Friendship Medal; First and Second Class Development Medal; First and Second Class Hero Medal. Along with many noble awards from central and local agencies, departments, ministries, and branches in the working areas of Vietnam and Laos.
At the ceremony, authorized by the Chief of Military Region 4, he awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister of Vietnam to the corporation. The Chief of the Lao Ministry of National Defense awarded the Friendship Medal from the President and Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic; and the Certificate of Merit from the Lao Ministry of National Defense to the Economic Cooperation Corporation for its outstanding achievements in carrying out military and defense tasks associated with economic development and defense diplomacy.
Previously, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Doan Anh, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee and delegates attended the ceremony and cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Headquarters of the Military Region 4 Economic Cooperation Corporation. The project has a total investment of 180 billion VND (of which, the Defense budget is 60 billion VND and the owner's equity is 120 billion VND). The scale of the project includes 1 basement and 15 floors with a total construction area of 15,136 m2. The project is designed and uses new, energy-saving materials, green spaces are arranged harmoniously, creating a fresh working environment, friendly to nature; the design idea demonstrates the spirit of innovation, aspiration to rise and strategic vision of the corporation in the new development stage.
