Actively mobilize resources
The Provincial Steering Committee for the Elimination of Temporary and Dilapidated Houses (hereinafter referred to as the Steering Committee) said that the province has established a Steering Committee headed by the member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Le Hong Quang as the head of the Committee; Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung as the Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee. The Provincial People's Committee has issued a plan to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. 11/11 districts, towns, cities, 155/155 communes, wards, and towns have established a Steering Committee and deployed the implementation plan.
Through screening, the total need to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province is 3,156 households, of which 2,672 are newly built; 484 are repaired. Specifically, 469 households of people with revolutionary contributions (141 newly built; 328 repaired); 601 poor and near-poor households under national target programs (599 newly built; 2 repaired); 2,086 poor and near-poor households under the Temporary and Dilapidated House Elimination Program (1,932 newly built; 154 repaired).
The province has mobilized resources of 139 billion VND to implement the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Of which, the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group supported the province with 100 billion VND; the Provincial Steering Committee organized the Launching Ceremony to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, mobilized the Fund for the Poor in 2024 and the Spring Tree Fund, Tet At Ty in 2025, received and registered to support 39 billion VND. Localities mobilized additional resources to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for people.
Groundbreaking ceremony for the project to remove temporary and dilapidated houses for people
Up to now, the whole province has started construction of 773 houses, of which 701 are newly built and 72 are repaired houses for people with revolutionary contributions, poor and near-poor households. 360 houses have been completed and put into use, of which 306 are newly built; 54 are repaired. According to the roadmap, Long Xuyen City and Chau Doc City aim to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the first quarter of 2025; Thoai Son District will complete before May 19, 2025; Tan Chau Town and Tri Ton District will complete in the second quarter of 2025; the remaining localities will complete in the third quarter of 2025.
Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Tri Ton District Cao Quang Liem, Head of the District Steering Committee, said that after reviewing, the district has 1,336 households in need of building new houses and repairing them (1,293 households in need of building new houses) - the highest number in the province. Currently, communes and towns are urgently constructing and handing over to households, striving to complete the target by June 2025 at the latest. The houses ensure "3 hard" quality, with a minimum area of 30m2 .
With the spirit of "mutual love", great solidarity, national love, and compatriotism, many organizations and individuals are willing to join the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Recently, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of An Giang Provincial Party Committee Tran Thi Thanh Huong mobilized the Central Executive Committee of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Sangha to support and start construction of 30 houses for people in Thoai Son district, implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. The total cost of building 30 new houses is over 1 billion VND.
In An Phu upstream district, there are 551 households eligible to build and repair houses according to regulations. To date, the district has mobilized over 2.7 billion VND in money and materials to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. The district aims to complete the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the third quarter of 2025.
Cho Moi District has 225 houses that are eligible for construction and repair of houses according to regulations. Sitting in the new House of Gratitude supported by the Steering Committee of Cho Moi District with 60 million VND to build, Mr. Tran Van Be (An Khuong Hamlet, An Thanh Trung Commune) could not hide his joy: "Sincerely thank the Party, State, and local authorities for their attention and support in building a new house of 60m2 , ensuring the "3 hard" criteria, with a full kitchen, bathroom, toilet... helping the family feel secure in developing the economy".
Implement seriously and effectively
Identifying that supporting the construction and repair of houses for the poor is a meaningful humanitarian work, demonstrating the care and concern of the Party and the State. Each new house completed means that a poor household has a stable place to live. From there, they can work and produce with peace of mind, rise out of poverty; further consolidate the people's trust in the Party and the State. The Provincial Steering Committee is determined to well implement the Prime Minister's direction. Continue to seriously and effectively implement the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, with the motto "only discuss, do not retreat, localities proactively implement and take primary responsibility for the results of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the management area". Strive to basically complete by June 2025, and completely complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province by September 2025. Particularly, Long Xuyen City and Chau Doc City will complete in the first quarter of 2025.
Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Steering Committee requested that localities urgently organize implementation; immediately disburse the capital allocated by the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; ensure timeliness, efficiency, right purpose, right target, avoid loss, waste, negativity, strictly handle violations. Regularly organize inspections and supervision of the implementation of support policies for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in localities. Timely grasp and resolve or advise competent authorities to resolve difficulties and problems in the implementation process. Timely commend, commend and disseminate good practices and typical examples in supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses.
