Ba Ria - Vung Tau province officially has its third city

(NLDO)- From March 1, Phu My will be the third city of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province with 7 wards, 3 communes and more than 287,000 people.


On the evening of February 28, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province held a ceremony to announce the resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the establishment of wards in Phu My town and the establishment of Phu My city.

Previously, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued a resolution on the establishment of wards in Phu My town; establishing Phu My city, effective from March 1, 2025.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai presented the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the establishment of wards in Phu My town and the establishment of Phu My city to the leaders of Phu My town.

Accordingly, Tan Hoa and Tan Hai wards were established on the basis of communes of the same name; Phu My city was established on the basis of the entire natural area of ​​333.02 km2 and the population of 287,055 people. At the same time, the People's Court and People's Procuracy of Phu My city were established.

Phu My City will include 10 commune-level administrative units, including 7 wards: Hac Dich, My Xuan, Phu My, Phuoc Hoa, Tan Hai, Tan Hoa, Tan Phuoc and 3 communes: Chau Pha, Song Xoai, Toc Tien.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, spoke at the resolution announcement ceremony.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chairman of Phu My Town People's Committee, said that the establishment of Tan Hoa and Tan Hai wards and Phu My City opens up a next stage of development with strategic vision and great expectations as defined in Resolution 24 of the Politburo on socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the Southeast region to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, affirmed that the resolution and plans all identify Phu My as being located on the key economic corridor and inter-regional trade route; oriented to develop into a specialized industrial center, a trade - service center, a maritime service center, and logistics center of the region, an important port traffic hub of the region and the country with a system of special national ports and international transit.

Phu My City is oriented to be a port city with a large-scale deep-water port system.

To effectively implement the above policies and orientations, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hai suggested that the locality implement a number of key tasks, bringing Phu My City to develop strongly, becoming a green, smart, dynamic, modern, integrated urban area, confidently entering the new era.

In 1994, Tan Thanh district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province was established on the basis of separation from Chau Thanh district (Dong Nai province) with 8 commune-level administrative units.

In 2018, Phu My town was established on the basis of Tan Thanh district, including 5 wards and 5 communes. From a locality with many difficulties, Phu My has now become the place with the largest concentration of industrial parks and seaport services in the province with many industrial parks and large factories in heavy industry and energy; with Cai Mep - Thi Vai, one of the world-class port clusters.
