The Capital Women's Newspaper and the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group have just inaugurated a boarding house at Chieng Dong Secondary School, Chieng Dong Commune, Tuan Giao District, Dien Bien Province. This is a practical project of the Capital Women's Newspaper to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Hanoi Party Committee (March 17, 1930 - March 17, 2025); responding to the special emulation campaign to welcome Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term.
Chieng Dong Secondary School, Tuan Giao District has 30 administrators and teachers, currently taking care of and educating 452 students. Of these, 97% are ethnic minority students; 82 Mong ethnic students are currently boarding at the school. Most of their families are purely farming households, with very difficult economic conditions. Chieng Dong Secondary School is currently equipped with 9 classrooms, 6 subject rooms and offices according to regulations, but there is still a lack of boarding accommodation for students.
At the inauguration ceremony of the Boarding House, Editor-in-Chief of the Capital Women's Newspaper Le Quynh Trang was moved to say that in order to have this spacious Boarding House, the Working Group of the Capital Women's Newspaper had visited Chieng Dong Secondary School three times. The first trip was in early 2024 to learn about the difficulties and needs of students and the school. After that, the Newspaper actively connected and coordinated with the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group to support 450 million VND to build a boarding house for ethnic minority students. The second trip of the Newspaper and its accompanying unit came to Chieng Dong to start the project in September 2024. And this third return was to inaugurate the 80m2 Boarding House with 4 rooms. After completion, the project has helped students have more spacious and comfortable living conditions. The Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper believes that the project will motivate students to strive to study better.
Also according to Ms. Le Quynh Trang, in 2024, the Capital Women Newspaper actively called for socialized funding of 3.5 billion VND from the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group to support 40 charity houses and gratitude houses for women in difficult circumstances in 30 districts in Hanoi worth 2 billion VND; build a boarding house for students of Pac Nga Secondary School, Bac Yen District, Son La Province worth 250 million VND; build a kitchen and dining room for students of Nam Can 2 Primary School, Ky Son District, Nghe An Province worth 240 million VND... Up to now, all social security activities in 2024 have been completed, the funds have been used by the Newspaper for the right purposes, given to the right subjects, and have been recognized and highly appreciated by local Party committees, authorities, and the community.
Entering 2025, Ms. Le Quynh Trang believes that the humanitarian journey will continue to be extended with new projects and tasks in difficult areas.
At the program, the Capital Women's Newspaper also awarded scholarships to 20 students who overcame difficulties and studied well at Chieng Dong Secondary School.
