Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Long Bien, 88 years old, is a former lecturer of Analytical Chemistry, now at the Faculty of Chemistry, Hanoi University of Science and Technology. He worked at this school from 1960 to 2002.

Although he has been retired for many years, Mr. Bien still cares about and wants to support students who are in especially difficult circumstances but have the will and always strive to improve. Therefore, he and his family decided to donate 1 billion VND to Hanoi University of Science and Technology to create a scholarship fund to encourage these students. This is the amount of money that he has saved over many years of teaching and scientific research.

However, this is the first time a lecturer has donated such a large amount of money.

“Mr. Bien is a teacher of many generations of Polytechnic students. Even though he is nearly 90 years old, he is still interested in training and supporting students,” said Associate Professor Dr. Pham Thanh Huyen.

These students must simultaneously meet the following conditions: Currently studying under a standard training program; average grade point average (GPA) of the previous semester from 2.5/4 or higher; training score of the previous semester is at least 65/100.

Students who have received this scholarship can continue to receive it in the following semesters if they meet the requirements, until the program ends.
