French Development Agency delegation works with Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee

Dien Bien TV - On the morning of March 19, the AFD delegation led by Mr. Hervé Conan, Director of AFD in Vietnam, worked with the People's Committee of Dien Bien province. Attending and working with the delegation were comrade Le Thanh Do, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrade Lo Van Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of a number of provincial departments and branches; leaders of the People's Committee of Dien Bien Phu city and the districts of Dien Bien, Nam Po, Tuan Giao.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed the conditions and special commitments associated with the funding for the Integrated Water Resources Management project, to serve the people's livelihood, adapt to climate change and develop the socio-economy of Tuan Giao district; project progress, the province's decision on the implementation deadline of the Nam Rom River Basin Multi-Disaster Management project; the status of the Nam Po River Basin Multi-Disaster Management project dossier, in Nam Po district. At the same time, they discussed and found optimal solutions to promptly implement the projects.

The French Development Agency delegation hopes that Dien Bien province will soon complete the documents and investment procedures for the Project according to the requirements of the law; the bidding process to select the design consultant and the construction unit will be public, ensuring sufficient capacity. For the Integrated Water Resources Management Project to serve people's lives, adapt to climate change and develop the socio-economy of Tuan Giao district, the construction process is required to ensure environmental factors, biodiversity conservation... For the Nam Rom River Basin Multi-Disaster Management Project, Dien Bien province is requested to soon complete the procedures and prepare related documents to extend the project...

The delegation of the French Development Agency in Vietnam worked with the leaders of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee.

On the side of Dien Bien province, the province will continue to direct relevant units to complete the project dossier to ensure the project's commencement progress according to the set plan; direct the People's Committee of Tuan Giao district to promptly complete the preparation, appraisal and approval of the feasibility study report and component reports, striving to complete in April 2025. The province is committed to implementing environmental and social issues during the implementation of projects; ensuring technical factors during construction, operation management to ensure dam safety, flood prevention for downstream areas... Dien Bien province proposed that the Working Group consider piloting Carbon credits at the Integrated Water Resources Management project to serve people's lives, adapt to climate change and develop the socio-economy of Tuan Giao district./.
