Investigation into the case of 5 fishing boats sinking in a sea of fire, causing billions in damage in Tien Giang

A fierce fire broke out and engulfed 5 fishing boats in Tien Giang, causing damage of more than 1 billion VND.

On March 23, Tien Giang Provincial Police are investigating a fire involving five fishing boats that caused more than 1 billion VND in damage in Go Cong Dong District.

At around midnight the same day, the police of Vam Lang town (Go Cong Dong district) received a report of a fishing boat fire in Lang 2 quarter. The police of Vam Lang town went to the scene and mobilized people to participate in extinguishing the fire.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Go Cong area (under the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department) mobilized 3 specialized vehicles and 10 officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire.

Because the location of the fire was inaccessible by specialized vehicles, authorities had to transport fire fighting equipment to the scene by motorbike.

At that time, the fishing boat mooring area was low tide, water source for fire fighting was very limited.

At the same time, strong winds blew, the wooden fishing boat contained oil and flammable materials, so the fire broke out and spread to engulf 5 fishing boats.

The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Tien Giang Province sent 3 more fire trucks and 22 officers and soldiers to the scene to coordinate in extinguishing the fire.

At around 2am the same day, the fire was brought under control, and the police prevented the fire from spreading to other areas. By 5am the fire was completely extinguished.

The fire severely damaged 5 fishing boats, causing more than 1 billion VND in damage.
