Accordingly, the candidates are those who have graduated from the General Education program or the Continuing Education program. For students who have skipped a grade in the previous level or students who enter the level at an age higher than the prescribed age (15 years old), the age for entering grade 10 will be reduced or increased based on the age of the year of graduation from the previous level.
Ethnic minority students, disabled students, students in especially difficult circumstances, and students returning from abroad can enter school at an age 3 years older than the prescribed age. Students with good physical strength and early intellectual development can enter school early or skip a grade within the same level.

Admission requirements for public high schools: Students must meet the required age and have valid documents; students must not have studied at secondary schools in Hai Phong city in grade 9 (from other provinces) and students must have graduated before 2025 (called independent candidates). Students from other provinces must have an application form and must have confirmation of consent from the Department of Education and Training before submitting their application.
Admission requirements for Tran Phu High School for the Gifted: Students must be of the correct age and have valid documents; academic and training results for the entire school year of all junior high school classes must be good or better; independent candidates are listed above.
Admission to public and non-public high schools is not divided by region. Admission quotas for public high schools (non-specialized) and non-public high schools: To be announced before March 31, 2025.
Admission method for public high schools (non-specialized), the entrance exam includes 3 subjects: Literature, Math, Foreign Language. Foreign Language exam (candidates can register for one of the following Foreign Languages: English, Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean). The exams are graded on a 10-point scale, rounded to two decimal places; the admission score (Score) is calculated according to the formula: Score = Score of Test 1 + Score of Test 2 + Score of Test 3 + Priority points (if any) + KK points (if any).
During the admission process, in case there are many students with the same admission score at the final target, the successful students will be selected in the following order of priority: The average score of the entire 9th grade year of subjects assessed by the higher score, the total average score of the entire 9th grade year of 3 subjects: Math, Literature and Foreign Language 1 is higher; students who have passed the admission to a public high school will not be considered for the second admission to another public high school.
The entrance exam schedule for Grade 10 of public high schools (non-specialized) will take place on June 3 and 4; the entrance exam schedule for Grade 10 of Tran Phu Specialized High School will take place on June 6 and 7.
Registration period: From April 21, 2025 to May 8, 2025, candidates register online on the Department of Education and Training's enrollment software system or register directly at the public high school (non-specialized) to register for the first choice, the school will use the candidate's account to register; From May 9, 2025 to May 13, 2025, candidates can change their enrollment registration and admission registration wishes. Online or directly at the public high school (non-specialized) where they register for the first choice. During this time, the locking system does not allow new applications to be entered.
Application submission period, from May 16, 2025 to May 19, 2025: Candidates submit their application at a public high school (non-specialized) to register for their first choice, and receive an exam registration form printed by the high school from the software. The exam registration form must have the seal and signature of the high school's Admissions Council leader and the candidate's signature. The public high school (where the student submits the application) prints 3 forms on the admissions software system: 1 form to submit to the Department of Education and Training; 1 form for the student to keep; 1 form for the school to keep.
