The price of Chu Se pepper (Gia Lai) was purchased at 140,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND compared to yesterday. The price of Dak Nong pepper today was recorded at 141,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
In the Southeast region, pepper prices today increased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Specifically, in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, it is currently at 141,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday; in Binh Phuoc, pepper prices today are at 140,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Thus, pepper prices increased for the second consecutive day today, with a uniform increase of 1,000 VND/kg, bringing the price to a new high of 141,000 VND/kg in Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
World pepper price today
Update on world pepper prices from the International Pepper Community (IPC), at the end of the most recent trading session, IPC listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at 7,472 USD/ton, remaining stable compared to yesterday, the price of Muntok white pepper reached 8,798 USD/ton.
The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained stable at USD 6,175/ton. The price of Malaysian ASTA black pepper continued to stand firm at USD 8,500/ton; the price of this country's ASTA white pepper reached USD 10,400/ton.
Vietnam's black pepper price remains at a high level of 5,800 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 6,200 USD/ton; white pepper price at 8,500 USD/ton.
Domestic pepper price on August 21, 2024
According to the Vietnam Commodity Exchange, domestic pepper prices are recorded at about 140,000 VND/kg, 1.75 times higher than at the beginning of this year.
The Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA) forecasts that pepper prices will continue to increase as demand in the world market remains high, while supply is limited.
Pepper export value this year has increased significantly. The whole industry is expected to reach 1 billion USD this year. In the first 7 months of 2024, Phuc Sinh - Vietnam's leading pepper exporter continued to maintain 8% of the global market share, of which the United States is the main market. In the context of good pepper industry growth, the company's total export volume increased by 40%. The average export price doubled compared to the same period last year.
VPSA prioritizes maintaining the pepper acreage, focusing on solutions to improve quality, diversifying processed products with high added value. Accordingly, it is necessary to advise and guide farmers to comply with international standards, especially on chemical residues, implement cultivation processes, prevent pests, and process and preserve them in accordance with the climatic conditions of each region.
According to VPSA, in the first 15 days of August 2024, Vietnam exported a total of 10,082 tons of pepper. The total export value of pepper during this period reached 58.8 million USD.
The top three pepper exporting companies are Haprosimex JSC, Olam Vietnam and Lien Thanh, with export volumes of 1,471 tons, 1,105 tons and 989 tons, respectively.
Regarding imports, Vietnam purchased 569 tons of pepper, with a total value of 3.1 million USD. Brazil and Indonesia were the two main pepper suppliers to Vietnam, with imports of 219 tons and 211 tons, respectively. The largest pepper importer was Tran Chau, with a total import volume of 219 tons.
