Amidst the scorching heat, in Binh An commune, Chau Thanh district (Kien Giang), the atmosphere was bustling and urgent as dozens of officers and soldiers of the district's armed forces coordinated with union members, youth and local people to transport sand, cement, bricks, stones... to support Ms. Thi Sua's family in building a new house in the emulation movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.
“My family is in difficult circumstances, the elderly couple do not have stable jobs, and their income is unstable; the house we are living in is dilapidated but we do not have money to rebuild it. Thanks to the local authorities and the soldiers’ care, I am now able to build a new house. I am very happy, thank the local authorities and the soldiers very much,” said Ms. Thi Sua.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Xuan - Political Commissar of Chau Thanh District Military Command said that implementing the direction of the Provincial Military Command, the District Military Command has recently closely coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district and the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in the district to collect the list of poor and near-poor households to support the construction of houses. During the construction process, officers and soldiers of the district armed forces supported workers, helped the family dig the foundation, and transported materials, thereby reducing construction costs and speeding up the completion progress.
“Up to now, Chau Thanh district has started construction of 80 houses according to the assigned target. In the coming time, the District Military Command will continue to assign officers and soldiers to coordinate in building houses for people so that they can quickly hand over and complete the set target,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Xuan.

Not only in Chau Thanh district, right from the official dispatch of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kien Giang province on coordinating the construction of new houses and repairing houses for poor households to implement the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, the Military Command of Kien Giang province has registered to coordinate the construction of 400 new houses in Giang Thanh, Hon Dat, Giong Rieng, Go Quao and Chau Thanh districts.
Up to now, the Military Command of Kien Giang province has focused on directing agencies and units to organize nearly 1,100 officers and soldiers of the regular army and militia to participate in helping and supporting families to build houses with nearly 2,000 working days; contributing to speeding up the construction progress and handing over houses to people.
Officers and soldiers of the Go Quao District Military Command actively support people in building houses in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.
Currently, the Provincial Military Command has coordinated to start construction of 207/400 houses for poor and near-poor households and organized the handover of 67/207 houses, of which Giang Thanh district handed over 10 houses, Hon Dat district 18 houses, Giong Rieng district 29 houses and Go Quao district handed over 10 houses.
In addition to participating in the working day to support families, officers and soldiers of the armed forces of Kien Giang province also contributed their salaries and allowances to support the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for households with meritorious services to the revolution, policy families, poor households, near-poor households, and people affected by natural disasters and climate change in the province. Through that, the units have mobilized hundreds of millions of VND to support the program.

Colonel Cao Minh Tam - Deputy Commissar of Kien Giang Provincial Military Command said that identifying the motto of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses as a responsibility to the community, the Provincial Party Committee and Military Command have actively launched and responded to the emulation movement to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025 in conjunction with the emulation movement of the Army joining hands to build new rural areas; the provincial armed forces join hands for the poor - leaving no one behind.
At the same time, Party committees and commanders at all levels have stepped up propaganda so that officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces actively participate in labor days, contribute funds, and join hands in implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.
In the coming time, the Provincial Party Committee and Military Command will continue to lead and direct the provincial armed forces with the spirit of serving the people, actively joining hands and responding to the implementation of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, determined to complete on schedule the construction and handover of houses to people according to the set targets, contributing to ensuring social security, strengthening the solidarity between the army and the people, and building a beautiful image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the hearts of the people.
