Under the direction of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province is assigned to preside over and coordinate with the Embassy of India in Hanoi to screen famous Indian films to introduce to the Dien Bien public, through the 2025 Indian Film Festival.
On the evening of March 17, at Dien Bien Phu Cinema, the opening ceremony of the screening of famous Indian films in Dien Bien took place. Attending the event were Dr. Monica Sharma, Second Secretary, Director of the Sawami Vivekananda Cultural Center, Embassy of India in Hanoi; Mr. Nguyen Minh Phu, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Representatives of leaders of some provincial departments, boards and branches.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Doan Van Chi, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized: Dien Bien always focuses on expanding international cooperation in the fields of culture and arts. This film festival not only helps local audiences enjoy outstanding films of Indian cinema - one of the major cinemas in the world, but also contributes to promoting cultural cooperation between the two countries. This is also an opportunity for the people of Dien Bien province to have a better understanding of the country, people and cultural traditions of India, thereby strengthening the connection between the two cultures.
The films selected for screening in the framework of the Film Festival include 04 films: " Roar of Freedom" - A touching story about friendship, people who share the same patriotism, sacrifices in the fight for freedom for India, for all ages (18 years old and above); "Live Only Once" - A story about the life-changing journey of 3 close friends on a trip across Spain after a long time apart and working in different fields, for all ages (16 years old and above); "Wrestler" - The film is inspired by a true story about a father's encouragement and training of his two daughters to become professional wrestlers, for all ages; The film "English, My Language" - is the story of a housewife who breaks her own limits and stereotypes, honoring the development of a hard-working woman, for ages (13 years old and up), the films are shown in order from March 17-20, 2025, at Dien Bien Phu Cinema.
The Indian Film Festival in Dien Bien has left many good impressions, strengthening the people-to-people relationship between the two countries and contributing to consolidating the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Vietnam./.
