According to VNA correspondent in New Delhi, a delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President - General Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, visited and worked in India from November 7-11.
During the visit, the delegation met and worked with Politburo member and Head of the External Affairs Committee of the Communist Party of India Marxist (CPIM) Mariam Alexander Baby; Politburo member of the Communist Party of India (CPI) R. Venkaiah; Director of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Rajeev Kumar; met with the Vietnamese community in India and visited the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in India.
Before carrying out the above activities, the delegation visited and offered flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the capital New Delhi.
During the visits and working sessions, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha emphasized that the purpose of the visit of the Vietnam Fatherland Front delegation is to contribute to further strengthening the traditional friendship and solidarity between the people of the two countries and the multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and India. This long-standing relationship, established by President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, has been diligently cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries. At the same time, during the visits and working sessions, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha introduced the position and role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the Vietnamese political system; in representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of the people; in implementing social supervision and criticism; in implementing social security activities...
Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha appreciated the fact that the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to consider Vietnam an important pillar in implementing the Act East policy.
She said that the State visit to India by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh from July 30 to August 1 had achieved many specific and practical results that met the interests and expectations of both sides. She also suggested that the two sides closely coordinate to implement the results of the visit and the Action Program to implement the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the period 2024-2028, including cooperation between mass organizations and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
On this occasion, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha expressed her gratitude to the Indian Government for sending a special plane carrying 35 tons of emergency relief goods worth 1 million USD to Vietnam to support people in overcoming the consequences of Typhoon Yagi. She said that this is a noble gesture demonstrating the close, close and mutual support relationship between the two countries and peoples.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front always pay attention to cultural exchange work, creating the best conditions for people's organizations to promote their role with their specific advantages in cultural work. She expressed her hope that the Indian government, parties and organizations will continue to promote their role to connect more deeply and widely with suitable partners of Vietnam, including the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations; have many rich and diverse forms of cooperation to bring people-to-people relations and cultural exchange between Vietnam and India increasingly deeper, practical and effective.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha also thanked the Indian Government for supporting Vietnam in the restoration and rehabilitation of the World Cultural Heritage My Son, Quang Nam province in recent years and hoped to continue receiving support from the Indian Government in these areas in the future.
Acknowledging India's initiative on International Yoga Day, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha said that the Vietnam Fatherland Front supports and is ready to provide appropriate support to organize exchange events and promote Indian culture in general, including experiencing Yoga in Vietnam. She also expressed her hope that the two countries will further promote people-to-people exchange activities, including promoting the strengths of both sides, such as cultural, spiritual and religious tourism, thereby building unique tourism products to attract tourists from both countries.
During the meeting with CPIM and CPI leaders, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha respectfully thanked the parties for their condolences when General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away on July 19, and also sent the deep condolences of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the passing of CPIM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on September 12.
Leaders of the CPIM, CPI, and Indian Council for Cultural Exchanges highly appreciated the delegation's visit and work, and affirmed that India always prioritizes developing relations with Vietnam, emphasizing that the two countries need to make the most of their available potential to quickly bring bilateral relations to a new, deeper and more effective stage of development.
Mr. Rajeev Kumar, Director of the Indian Council for Cultural Exchange, called on Vietnamese cultural delegations to increase exchanges with Indian cultural delegations, especially in the context that India will organize many events on Buddhism in both countries in 2025. In addition, Mr. Rajeev Kumar also suggested that Vietnam call on students to participate in scholarship programs 100% funded by ICCR. He said that this is a meaningful and practical people-to-people exchange activity.
During a meeting with the Vietnamese community at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in India, Vice President - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha listened to Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai report on the situation of Vietnamese people in India, Nepal and Bhutan, and heard some opinions reflecting the thoughts and aspirations of the community.
Affirming that the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese national community, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha informed about recent changes in the country's policies such as the Land Law, Housing Law, Real Estate Business Law... which have contributed to creating conditions and strengthening connections with overseas Vietnamese.
At the end of the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha presented gifts to representatives of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in India.
