Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long said that with the message "Green transition - Green future", many activities in response to Earth Hour 2025 were simultaneously organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade this March, including: Running competition in response to "All people save energy in response to Earth Hour 2025"; Online contest to learn about energy saving in response to Earth Hour 2025, Contest "Electricity saving propagandist"; Contest "Press award for propaganda on economical and efficient use of energy"; Contest "Learning about the law on economical and efficient use of energy";... In particular, the event of turning off the lights for one hour in response to Earth Hour will take place from 20:30 to 21:30, Saturday, March 22, 2025.
In particular, the Run in response to "The whole people save energy in response to Earth Hour 2025" attracted nearly 2,000 participants, including officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers in the Ministry of Industry and Trade and related agencies; representatives of units, social organizations, industry associations; representatives of production and business enterprises; people who love running; athletes from a number of grassroots running clubs.... The online run was deployed nationwide through the 84RACE sports training application from March 8, 2025 to March 31, 2025, expected to attract tens of thousands of professional and non-professional athletes from all over the country.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long emphasized that the race will contribute to strongly spreading the message "Green transition - Green future." Thereby, the Ministry of Industry and Trade wishes to launch a movement that has a strong influence in the community, not only simply calling on the whole population to save electricity, but also more broadly and at a higher level, including sustainable energy production activities, increasing the use of renewable energy sources, using products and equipment with high energy efficiency, improving energy efficiency in both economic and environmental aspects.
Each small action when combined will create a big wave, bringing us to a greener, more sustainable future. The contest to learn about knowledge on using energy economically and effectively in response to the Earth Hour Campaign gives participants the opportunity to learn and equip themselves with knowledge to use electricity more effectively.
Ms. Kristina Buende, Head of Cooperation Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, emphasized: Energy saving measures, energy efficiency and the development of renewable energy sources are increasingly recognized as ways to achieve sustainable energy supply, reduce the demand for capacity and use of fossil fuels. The European Union and Vietnam have a common interest in green transition and circular economy. With the strong commitment of the government leadership and the participation of all citizens in the green transition, I believe that Vietnam will achieve its goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
" Opportunities to save energy, including energy efficiency, can be found everywhere and can be implemented at any time: at work and at home. Often it only requires very small investments or just a change in mindset. Everyone can contribute. I was really impressed to see so many athletes participating in the race today. I believe that all of you will be great contributors to the green transition in Vietnam " - Ms. Kristina Buende expressed.

In this competition, for women, the first prize went to Nguyen Thi Hai Yen with BIB number 3831; second prize went to Le Thi Huyen with BIB number 3183; third prize went to Hoang Thi Luong with BIB number 3073. For men, the first prize went to Dang Duc Truong with BIB number 3741; second prize went to Tran Ngoc Hieu with BIB number 3971 and third prize went to Vu Viet Thanh with BIB number 3655.
Run in response to "The whole people respond to save energy" "Earth Hour 2025" is organized in two forms. - Offline format: The race will take place at Thong Nhat Park Gate - Tran Nhan Tong walking street, Nguyen Du ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi city, with a distance of 5 km. - Online format: Organizing an online race through the 84RACE and Strava sports training applications, deployed nationwide, taking place from March 8, 2025 - March 31, 2025.
