The accident occurred late on January 28, on National Highway 51, through Phu My town, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
At about 10:45 p.m., driver Tran Hoang Kha (25 years old, from Tra Vinh) drove a container truck with license plate 50LD-196.xx pulling a trailer with license plate 51R-145.xx carrying 15 prestressed centrifugal concrete piles, diameter 40cm, about 8m long, on National Highway 51, from Phu My town to Ba Ria city.
When arriving at the intersection between National Highway 51 and Tran Hung Dao Street, in Quang Phu Quarter, Phu My Ward (Phu My Town), the container truck driven by Mr. Kha suddenly braked suddenly, hitting the back of the container truck with license plate 72H-028.xx pulling a trailer 72R-028.xx that was stopped at a red light in the same direction ahead.
The strong impact caused the concrete piles behind the trailer to pile up, crushing the cabin, trapping driver Kha inside.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Phu My Town Police sent people and professional tools to the rescue, using specialized equipment to demolish the cabin. After about 30 minutes, the driver was taken out and taken to the emergency room with serious injuries.
At the scene, the front of the container truck with license plate 50LD-196.xx was deformed and the glass was broken. The truck with license plate 72H-028.xx was deformed. Many pieces of debris from both vehicles were scattered in the middle of the road.
The Traffic Police Department of My Phu Town sent officers to direct traffic and investigate the cause of the accident.
