(NLDO) - People were terrified when they saw a large bomb washed ashore near a residential area in Quang Binh, so they reported it to the authorities.
Safely handle and transport the bomb to a centralized destruction area.
On the morning of March 22, the Mine Detection and Disposal Organization (MAG) Vietnam announced that its mobile bomb disposal team had successfully handled and safely transported a large bomb discovered on the coast of Thanh Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province.
Earlier, on the morning of March 21, many residents of Thanh Xuan village, Thanh Trach commune, Bo Trach district were frightened when they discovered a large bomb lying close to the coast, only about 250m from the residential area. Immediately after that, the information was reported to local authorities and functional agencies.
Upon receiving a request from the Quang Binh Provincial Military Command, the MAG bomb disposal team quickly arrived at the scene to conduct an inspection and assessment of the situation. Through professional work, experts determined that this was a bomb with the code number MK82, weighing about 230 kg, believed to be left over from the war.
To ensure absolute safety for people in the area, MAG's technical team applied professional measures to neutralize the bomb according to strict procedures.
After being safely handled, the bomb was transported to a centralized destruction area in accordance with regulations.
